Crashing the chatterbox = Overpowering lies of insecurity, fear, condemnation, and discouragement with the promises of God. “I used to think that someone who struggled with the kinds of weaknesses I deal with daily was useless to God. I felt so often like I was drowning in internal dialogue I couldn’t control. It had been the soundtrack of my life for as long as I could remember.

Steve Furtick has an amazing ability to take some complicated thought processes and beliefs and make them understandable and he gives you the tools to break down the meaning. He is a great writer and a good preacher and as he grows, he takes you on his path and helps you quiet down enough to hear God's plan for you. No one is perfect and he is the first one to tell you. He can be humble, sometimes too much self deprecating, but that is much better than the alternative. If you teeter on leading a life for Christ but somehow can't seem to find the passion, give him a listen.

Growing up, Pat O'Brien was the skinny Midwestern kid with the divorced parents and the alcoholic father. He drove himself to the University of South Dakota after finishing his last late-night shift and moved in while his roommate was asleep. His life was unceremonious - until he was picked up in the student center by a professor who envisioned his future as the household television name he would become.

I enjoyed this audio book. It was interesting to listen to Mr. O'Brien's struggle with his sobriety as well as how he started. I very good insider view into the battle that goes on in the mind of an addict. A perspective that one may not see on the outside of a person with the same struggles

In his landmark best seller The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell redefined how we understand the world around us. Now, in Blink, he revolutionizes the way we understand the world within. Blink is a book about how we think without thinking, about choices that seem to be made in an instant, in the blink of an eye, that actually aren't as simple as they seem. Why are some people brilliant decision makers, while others are consistently inept?

Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

What did you love best about Sycamore Row?

Each character had both good and bad, some more bad than others, some more good than others but the range and how it was used as part of the story was brilliant

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lucian by far was my favorite. The love/hate father/son relationship with Jake

    Which scene was your favorite?

I can't give it away- would be a spoiler

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book made me cry, abuse makes me cry.

    Any additional comments?

John Grisham does not disappoint his readers often. This was one of his bests, one of the most "emotion" filled without the distraction of a man-woman love story.

Recommended for anyone who might want to learn how to deal with difficult people- not only for those with BPD. Provides some understanding and how to pull from your own emotional reserves.

People with borderline personality disorder (BPD) experience such violent and frightening mood swings that they often fear for their sanity. They can be euphoric one moment, despairing and depressed the next. For years BPD was difficult to describe, diagnose, and treat. But with this classic guide, Dr. Jerold J. Kreisman and health writer Hal Straus offer much-needed professional advice, helping victims and their families understand and cope with this troubling, shockingly widespread affliction.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

This book was a little too technical for me and maybe it would serve me to get a written version. It does a great job explaining the disorder and its extremes. It's definitely not a "light" read (listen)

A great compilation of patient stories and the thoughts of the doctor as he grew from a young man "faking" it to a seasoned professional. You move along with him on his journey and you can come out the other side, at least a little better of a person than you started as.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes!

Copies of two letters, Top Secret military transcripts, and notes from the late Matilda O'Donnell MacElroy, an Army Air Force nurse at the Roswell Army Air Field 509th Bomb Group in 1947. In her letters she asserts that the transcripts are an exact recording of a series of interviews she conducted with an extraterrestrial being as part of her official duty as a flight nurse in the U.S. Army Air Force. During July and August she interviewed a saucer pilot who crashed near Roswell, New Mexico on July 8, 1947.

From 1990 to 1995, Dr. Rick Strassman conducted U.S. government–approved and funded clinical research at the University of New Mexico in which he injected 60 volunteers with DMT, one of the most powerful psychedelics known. His detailed account of those sessions is an extraordinarily riveting inquiry into the nature of the human mind and the therapeutic potential of psychedelics. DMT, a plant-derived chemical found in the psychedelic Amazon brew ayahuasca, is also manufactured by the human brain.

Great book for anyone interested in how medical studies are done and the difficulty that researchers encounter when attempting to conduct studies. The subject matter and the similar reactions the patients have is just icing on the cake and but if you are looking for the final word, you won't find it here, just more questions and hoping that more will come.
