An Essence best-selling author, Rochelle Alers also boasts a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award and Zora Neale Hurston Award. Sweet Southern Nights continues the Eaton family saga, which finds Dr. Levi Eaton far from his Northern roots, volunteering at a Kentucky clinic. There he meets Angela Chase, whose sultry Southern hospitality is just what the doctor ordered. But as their relationship deepens, Angela worries Levi may discover the secrets she’s been hiding.

    Story

The overall story was good, a typical love story; boy meets girl, girl likes boy etc. However, I could not get a grasp on the main characters because they "flip flopped" so much during the story. Additionally, the narrator's tone and voice for the main male character caused him to seem cold and harsh. The story line seemed a little rushed and far fetched at the end, which was in contrast to the slow story line throughout the book.

Annajane Hudgens truly believes she is over her ex-husband, Mason Bayless. They’ve been divorced for four years, she’s engaged to a new, terrific guy, and she’s ready to leave the small town where she and Mason had so much history. She is so over Mason that she has absolutely no problem attending his wedding to the beautiful, intelligent, delightful Celia. But when fate intervenes and the wedding is called to a halt as the bride is literally walking down the aisle, Annajane begins to realize that maybe she’s been given a second chance.

    Story

Well I personally am a huge fan of romantic comedies because they are a break from reality :) This book really delivered in a sweet story, with characters you come to "know, love and/or loathe", and it also delievered that far fetched perfect ending you find in most romantic comedies! I was really shocked with the SURPRISE that was eventually revealed near the end of the story. I look forward to reading other titles by this author.

Jada left home at the age of sixteen, running from her own demons and the horrors of physical abuse inflicted by her mother’s boyfriend. She partied hard, and life seemed good when she was with Born, the neighborhood kingpin whose name was synonymous with money, power, and respect. But all his love couldn’t save her from a crack addiction. Jada goes from crack addict and prostitute to survivor and back again before she finds the strength to live for herself and come out on top.

    Story

I enjoyed the story line and the characters in this story. As I listened to the character backgrounds and their respective expectations, I could not help but yell, "Truth is relative" "stop blaming" "stop making excuses" "That's so selfish". I enjoyed the very realistic illustrations through words, by which I felt like a fly on the wall instead of just an audience member. I cast characters as I read and in no time, I was viewing this book in film form in my head.
