A master at combining heart-stopping suspense and scientific intrigue, New York Times best-selling author James Rollins returns with a thrilling adventure like no other--a shocking story of cruel genetic experiments done in the name of national security and, most disturbing of all, tied to a secret history of the Book of Genesis.

    "I wanted to like it"

The narration was such a hodge podge of incredibly bad New Orleans, southern, and cajun accents that it made the experience of the book probably seem worse that it actually was.

When a fragile peace breaks down and promptly devolves into a rapidly escalating shooting war between Pakistan and India, the U.S. must intervene. With only hours remaining before the conflict reaches a deadly point of no return, the White House must find a way to shut it down immediately or risk the likelihood of a new global war. A radical cleric has become the democratically elected president of Pakistan and uses a brutal incident in the Kashmir region as an opportunity to ignite war with India. The highly lethal conventional war spins out of control when Pakistan initiates a nuclear attack.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Non-stop action, thrills, and suspense from start to finish. I enjoyed POWER DOWN and recommend it highly, but COUP D'ETAT pushed the thrill level to the nuclear end of the scale as Dewey Andreas races to save us from World War III.

What about David de Vries???s performance did you like?

David de Vries' performance is masterful. Sometimes accents and gender inflections can spoil the listening experience. In this case an excellent novel is enhanced by extraordinary narration of a book that would be a test for any narrator. Mr. de Vries passes the test with an A+. I'd like to hear more novels of this genre read by him.

    Any additional comments?

The book and narration are superior entertainment. If you are fan of contemporary politcal action thrillers, and you are on the fence about getting COUP D'ETAT...jump down on the side of Ben Coes. You will not be disappointed.
