Meet Harold Fry, recently retired. He lives in a small English village with his wife, Maureen, who seems irritated by almost everything he does, even down to how he butters his toast. Little differentiates one day from the next. Then one morning the mail arrives, and within the stack is a letter addressed to Harold from a woman he hasn't seen or heard from in 20 years. Queenie Hennessy is in hospice and is writing to say goodbye. Harold pens a quick reply and, leaving Maureen to her chores, heads to the corner mailbox. But then Harold has a chance encounter, one that convinces him that he absolutely must deliver his message to Queenie in person.

What can I say about Harold. He captures your heart and reminds me of the days of my grandparents and their stiff upper lip and absurd way of thinking of putting one foot in front of the other. I was captivated by the story even the pilgrim nonsense that is a brilliant way to show how social media is usually wrong and sensational seeking. The reader was excellent. Loved the book - it was GOOD and I haven't really listened to a GOOD book in awhile. Ignore the nonsense that people will post about it being a spiritual book and comparing it to this and that. It is a great story told by an engaging story teller.

Dubbed the American Tolkien by Time magazine, George R. R. Martin has earned international acclaim for his monumental cycle of epic fantasy. Now the number-one New York Times best-selling author delivers the fifth book in his spellbinding landmark series - as both familiar faces and surprising new forces vie for a foothold in a fragmented empire.

So a Feast of boredom switches to excitement in A Dance and familiar characters return, or so they say but you cant tell from Roy Dotrices narration. All the female characters sound like cranky little school girls. The biggest feux pas was what he did to Melisandre or I should say didnt do. If the book didnt say specifically she was speaking I wouldnt have known it was her. And lets not talk about the sexy powerful Khaleesi because its more of an annoyance to hear speak Shame on you Roy and the audiobook people who let this slide. I havent been this disappointed since they ruined Saphira's voice in Eragon. Its an audiobook! We as listeners rely on the narrator to get the authors story across to us. When they start switching things up halfway through a story it confuses and disappoints. I've actually listened to audiobooks because a certain narrator is reading (Jim Dale, Simon Vance, George Guidall) without knowing the author or story-line and NOT listened to some stories because of the narrator (Stephen King, Ray Bradbury (as readers not authors)). This is becoming a money maker of a business and should be run like one! Get a good reader/narrator or BE a good reader/narrator and be consistent! I wouldnt put this one down on your resume Roy Dotrice.

Few books have captivated the imagination and won the devotion and praise of readers and critics everywhere as has George R. R. Martin’s monumental epic cycle of high fantasy that began with A Game of Thrones. Now, in A Feast for Crows, Martin delivers the long-awaited fourth book of his landmark series, as a kingdom torn asunder finds itself at last on the brink of peace . . . only to be launched on an even more terrifying course of destruction.

I immediately jumped into this book after the previous one had me on the edge of my seat the entire ride only to be extremely disappointing and bored. The story covers people I hadn't heard of and to be honest don't really care about. It was painful at times to push thru to the end. A glutton for punishment I suppose or thinking something exciting would happen and I'd miss it if I stopped listening. Not sure if Roy Dotrice didnt get paid enough to follow thru with past character voices but more on his horrible performance for the next audiobook review. If you fall asleep or get distracted during this one dont worry about rewinding..you're not missing anything. You could possibly skip this one all together and be none the less wiser.

Horrible - the narration makes it hard to believe. The story is awesome but if you want to hear it in audible it doesn't make the grade - i can't believe that I will have to read this on my nook instead of the pleasure of listening - not happy!

Emily and Jessamine Bach are opposites in every way: 28-year-old Emily is the CEO of Veritech; 23-year-old Jess is an environmental activist and graduate student in philosophy. Emily is making a fortune in Silicon Valley, Jess works in an antiquarian bookstore. The Cookbook Collector is a novel about getting and spending, and about the substitutions we make when we can’t find what we’re looking for. But above all, it is about holding on to what is real in a virtual world: love that stays.

I really enjoy books about brilliant women and enjoyed the first 60 pages then it turned into a harlequin romance set in silicon valley! It became tedious to read anymore. When she starts talking business because "she wants to make her rival boyfriend feel better" i turned off the book.
