"Great setup for series. Understated hilarity prose"
Good characters, interesting world, ok plot. Con. Plot moved slowly as author spent inordinate amount of time describing dirigible and various mechanicals. More story moving and less description would have gotten 5 stars. Narrator was very good, but toward the end of the book she seemed to give a character a lisp that wasn't there to start....or I didn't notice. The character is better without the lisp
"Knock off PNR lots of inner dialog"
Nurse practioner loses patient but saves dragon baby and is kidnapped/rescued by uber male dragon. Very similar to IAD premise, plot, and characters. Little character development. OK if you don't mind the more than obvious similarities and can't find anything else. Narrator did a good job not super, but not bad and he didn't have much to work with
"Interesting female lead - impossible HEA - no win"
Georgia - succubs/demon can not have a normal relationship because every time she kisses some one, his life gets shorter. She spends a lot of time pushing people who love her away, trying to protect them. She is in a no win situation, which makes her internal strife a little ridiculous/despairing. A dammed soul. The writing was interesting, but with no way out, I don't think I need to continue. This story has multiple boyfriends - Seth, the writer. Roman the bast demon. Doug the coworker. She has sex with her boss to satifsy the succubus hunger. Kind of gross -- the overall downer brings it to a 3. Narrator is good.
"Strong heroine classic romance"
Not bad. Plot moved along most of the time. Classic romance writing. Good narrAtor. Good for 4.95. Becky is orphan chattel. Threatened by Russian prince cousin. Hero is a whoring angel rake gambler who wins back her house. Modern attitudes in the 1800s
"Poor writing, unbelievable premise even for pnr"
Awful couldn't get through first 45 minutes. Three words described x, then she uses seven. Repetitive writing needs edit. Story awful. Narrator marginal. Female characters ok. Male and accents are awful. Dialog so bad no chance.
"Control your nuclear reactor done with series"
Siena fire, hawk. Slow repetitive, liked the characters but don't care enough to continue. Cover art is the worst ever
"Forget this series and this author"
Black/white witch with pixie and vampire sidekicks. The only thing more boring than sitting in an airport is reading about fictional characters sitting in an airport. The author actually wrote paragraphs about standing in line to pick up conference tickets. The dialog is "Shut up" - "get out" "Why" "I can't tell you" if you can't tell me why mention it Couldn't get through to the end.
Narrator is OK. Not that great - Wisconsin/ Jersey - might be OK in another series.
"My headache is a super power?"
The heroine's "super power" is to get debilitating cluster migraines when evil lurks and has to be rescued by a hero with baggage. The premise of the story has interesting points. The writing tends to be repetitive and could really use a good edit. The narrator was the only reason I could get through the whole book.
"Finally, a strong likeable heroinne"
The heroinne doesn't scare easy and doesn't fall apart. Of course, she does need to be rescued. NIce hero. Narrator was fine -
"Fast forward and you won't miss a thing"
Narrative repeatedly states heroine is smart, but none of her actions show why. Stilted dialogue between characters. Slow, repetitive. Narrator not awful, but would avoid her.
Classics from the text...Whistled silently...she tried to think logically, but it wasn't easy
