If you enjoy verbal sparring, political machinations, making fun or government or non-slapstick British humor; you will really enjoy this. Comedy where the more you pay attention the more you will enjoy it.
If you like noir, dark comedy, or the lampooning of hackneyed cultural associations with Christmas, this is a very unique and enjoyable Christmas time book. (Nothing in it makes fun of the religious components of Christmas, only the cliches, tv & music specials, and commercialized traditions.) Its got to be in or around the Christmas season and you have to be the person that can get into something narrated by an elf in a Sam Spade style. If so you will have a fun time with this one. I don't know anything else like it. Great parody if you like this style.
It was enjoyable and light. A good way to relax and be entertained at the same time. Well written and well narrated.
I got about a quarter of the way through this. It was intersting. It was well narrated. When it got to a section (not overly explicitly but rather lengthily) referring to beastiality, I was done. I can't say more without giving spoilers which is not my intention. If that doesn't bother you... do what you will. If it does, you may want to try Agent to the Stars, which is by the same author and narrator and I very much enjoyed.
Keep in mind I only got half way through it but that was all I could take. perhaps it got better (It could have happened, I guess) Well narrated, some interesting ideas, but what starts as a one sided world view perspective devolved into a slanted theme and then later just became so deeply rooted in ideological presumptions to the point where it stopped being an interesting story. Not for me.
If this sounds like something you'd enjoy; you probably will. It provides interesting insights and perspectives to our 40th president. If you don't think you'd like it, you probably won't.
Its nice that some holes in the show's background are filled in. The narrator does a nice job. But this is among the most dry and vapid execution of creating a story that I've encountered. DULL!
It was an incredibly fun listen but given the nature of the events told it is a raunchy where you wouldn't listen with the family in the car. Yet a very well told tale that thoroughly engaging and funny.
The intent/desire of the book is good. The execution is disappointing. One of the authors I usually agree with when giving commentary the other normally presnets his view well though I disagree. This just seemed to say there are not some issues where flexibility would go from compomise to selling out your convictions. Then the predictions for 2008, only underscore the inaccuracy. Again the aim was well intended and perhaps in a different attempt has potential value.
