"an enjoyable read"
I really enjoyed this book, it's pleasant and an easy read; I'm in the middle of a trilogy right now that is not an easy read and I needed to take a break from it and listen to some thing that would make me smile and believe that there are really good people out there and this book did that. The narrator was fine, I have never listened to her before which always concerns me as a bad narrator can completely ruin a book.
I can recommend this book if your looking for a nice romantic love story with mild sexual content.
"it was okay"
the story was good i enjoyed it but the narration was horrid. why is it that the narrator's think that all Scottish warriors have harsh screechy, screaming voices? It's extremely annoying and makes for a very unpleasant listen. Several times i had to stop listening because the sounds that were being screamed into my ears was actually painful. I'm a huge fan of Ms. Garwoods but it was a chore getting to the end of this book. Do the authors have any control or say in who will be narrating their books? I find it difficult to believe they do because of all the work and time it takes to write a book only to have it ruined by the narration just doesn't make any sense to me.
I have to be honest and say that in the future if any of her other books are narrated as this one is i will not be purchasing them.
"nothing "sweet" about it"
if your into sado masochism, male domination, inflicting and receiving pain and humiliation on another person for sexual fulfillment then this is the book for you. i found it simply pathetic as were all the characters. i have in the past really enjoyed Ms. Banks stories however i am rapidly changing my mind and am starting to wonder about where and how she is doing or obtaining her research?
I'm truly not a prude but for me this goes way beyond what is healthy.
really can't speak about the narration as the contents of the book so horrified me that i'm at a loss as to if she was any good. read at your own risk unless your into this kind of thing!
"holy crap!"
well this is a first for me. if you like a book with lots of really hot sex in it then this book will do it for you, just understand that the sex is with 3 partners at once! i was a bit shocked and mildly uncomfortable with it through out the entire book but the story that went along with it was good so i finished it. It's the first book in "Colter's Legacy so admittedly i'm now curious as to what is next?
The narration was fine.
"absolutely loved it!"
a really enjoyable listen. I loved all the characters and the deep friendships they shared and all the different aspects of all their lives. I have read a lot of Robyn Carr's books but this is the first one that was not in one of her series and it was so different from her series that i was pleasantly surprised. the story line was very interesting and it held my attention and i also learned a few things about some of the pit falls in the literary world.
The narrator was extremely good doing an excellent job in giving all of the friends different voices and personalities but my favorite by far was Ellie and i hope to listen to many more books in the future narrated by Christina Moore. I also hope to find other books by Ms. Carr that stand alone not being a part of a series even though those are good too but this one i will remember.
"enjoyable listen"
i really liked this book, the story was good, loved the characters and the narrator was awesome!
"couldn't hold my attention"
the book was just okay. the main character was too much of a martyr for me even although i liked her but there were times when i wanted to slap her and say "stop it!" i also thought it was predictable in places. far though from being a not worth it book but i did find my mind wandering a bit. i loved the loyalty and sense of family in it though.
the narrator was good.
"gruesome at times"
good book, the story line was not at all what i expected but it kept me intrigued. i wondered though if the medical terminology may cause problems for readers with no medical back ground, but it seemed as though the author tried hard not to let that happen. it was gruesome at times especially the birth scenes but they were a necessary part of the story. i was a bit disappointed in the ending, it felt incomplete to me as far as solving the case was concerned and the finale' with the main characters.
the narrator was great.
"loved the series"
thoroughly enjoyed all 3 books in this series. loved the characters and each of their stories, loved the ghost and her story as well. i really did not want it to end.
the narrator was good, at first it seemed that he was bored with the telling of it but once i got used to his slowness he was fine, just he should not be allowed to do children characters because truly all children do not whine every time they open their mouths. that became really annoying.
"boring"
this book was $.95 so i got it and the saying is true "you get what you pay for", i haven't finished it yet and probably wont unless i'm desparet. event at 95 cents don't waste your money.
"the best one in the series"
i enjoyed this series by Sylvia Day but i think i enjoyed the last book best, not near as much sex in it compared to the 3rd book but more normal or believable. i enjoyed following all the characters through out the series and all in all it was a good story from book to book once i got past the narrator but to be truthful by the end of the 4th book the narrator no longer annoyed me. don't know if it was because i was used to her by then but it kind of scared me, maybe i'm listening to too may audible books!
