The Overlords appeared suddenly over every city - intellectually, technologically, and militarily superior to humankind. Benevolent, they made few demands: unify earth, eliminate poverty, and end war. With little rebellion, humankind agreed, and a golden age began.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Time well spent. This book is a good example of the growth of the Science Fiction genra. It moves from the

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

most interesting: Clarke kept the suspence going through the book to the end.

What does Eric Michael Summerer and Robert J. Sawyer (Introduction) bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

can't think of anything at this time

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

no, it's too far out of date. Did not enjoy 2001 for the same reson

    Any additional comments?

Re-reading the old masters is always eye opening. As I mentioned earlier..Science Fiction has matured considerably and to appreciate the current crop of writers it helps to have a grounding in

Earth is conquered. The Shongairi have arrived in force, and humanity’s cities lie in radioactive ruins. In mere minutes, over half the human race has died. Now Master Sergeant Stephen Buchevsky, who thought he was being rotated home from his latest tour in Afghanistan, finds himself instead prowling the back country of the Balkans, dodging alien patrols and trying to organize the scattered survivors without getting killed.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Only to a Sci fi fan...my sister who can not even pick up a sci fi book wouldn't get past the first chapter

What was one of the most memorable moments of Out of the Dark?

Memporable momen :the way( in this world view) of how the problem is resoved...didn't know if I loved it or hated it but thats also how I feel about what's going on in our curent poliitical climate. One of the things I like about Sci fi is how the authors can reflect current events-- magnafied and somewhat simplified-- as it applies to our current situation politically and socially.

Have you listened to any of Charles Keating’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

not aware of listining to mr Keating.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No...for one thing it was lengthy. I will bring it up and listen again in the future as ido with those that are my favorites.
