"Where is the next one! I'm ready!"
The only complaint I have is that the story went too quickly and was over too soon for me. I have listened to the entire Ender series on Audiobook, so the narration was no surprise and completely enjoyable to me. Stefan and Emily are 2 voices that I enjoy, so it's easy to appreciate if you know their voices already. Remembering the work involved in the creation of the characters, worlds and ideas of the Ender series, the dead LAST thing this reminded me of was Harry Potter. Harry is a young boy....Danny is a young boy..end of similarity. Card expands on how his history came to be at the end of this first book. I am looking forward to the next installment! Atta boy, Scott!
"Too Irritating To Finish"
No wonder there are no more bad reviews of this book...the page to comment doesn't even work...what a long overly detailed, over "acted" narration, and wholly uninteresting book. I made it 60,000 years into it and fell asleep due to the tedium of uninteresting peoples, countries and sub sub sub sub plots. I like the other Eddings works, but this one turns my interest to mush.
"Narration a problem"
Not to beat a dead horse...Even the 150th time I hear this guy say "Collin" instead of "Kay-Lin" as was done for the last, what, over 45 hours of listening in the first 3 books, I still find myself wondering "Who the Hell is Collin?" Oh yeah, it's one of the main characters.
Then I have to wonder who cared so little about the buyer's and listener's experience as to overlook this production flaw...
Yes the story is okay, even wonderful, when describing other characters. Serves the purpose of entertainment while I drive my weekly 3000 miles, but doesn't endear me to this work. It's a distraction to have to mentally tell myself..Collin isn't a guy Richard loves..it's the same woman, pronounced "Kay-Lin" in the 1st three books.
Also, Zed sounds like a wheezy, weak old man in this book. Makes me glad he isn't in it as much.
"Completely Enjoyable!"
This was my second Goodkind purchase...Law of Nines was first. Decent writer and story line! The narrator made the book come alive. The story ending seemed rushed a little but like a previous review said...probably due to setting up the next book. I'm buying the next book now, despite narration critiques and because of the enjoyable story and characters.
