What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

By deleting the long introduction where the author tells you for 2 hours what he is going to tell you later in the book or what he has already told you in other books or articles.

What could Richard Preston have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Just present the interesting science, don't tell the audience how you gather information and how you will tell us all about it in upcoming chapters. Also multiple chapters on Pi is way too many

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disappointment

    Any additional comments?

Yes, I felt used by buying this book.

  • 11-22-63: A Novel

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

What does Craig Wasson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He does an excellent job transforming the reading of the book into acting the parts and making you part of the experience

Marion and Shiva Stone are twin brothers born of a secret union between a beautiful Indian nun and a brash British surgeon at a mission hospital in Addis Ababa. Orphaned by their mother's death in childbirth and their father's disappearance, bound together by a preternatural connection and a shared fascination with medicine, the twins come of age as Ethiopia hovers on the brink of revolution. Yet it will be love, not politics - their passion for the same woman - that will tear them apart.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.....

What other book might you compare Unbroken to and why?

In Harms Way which is another story of the impact of events from WWII on the life of an officer, and his men after the sinking of the US Indianapolis.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it was nice to break it up as some parts are terribly upsetting to hear.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this book as the concepts of individual rights and the impact of decisions on others can be broadly applied, not just as related to the central theme of this novel.

If you could take any character from My Sister's Keeper out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Brian - most humane, complicated and interesting.
