It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Book Thief to be better than the print version?

I don't know because I started with the audible version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The narrator was fabulous, but I adored Papa!

Have you listened to any of Allan Corduner’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, I haven't but I look forward to the comparison! He is completely captivating and thrilling as Death himself.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Death becomes the captive!

    Any additional comments?

    Don't miss this one.

Edith Hahn was an outspoken young woman in Vienna when the Gestapo forced her into a ghetto and then into a slave labor camp. When she returned home months later, she knew she would become a hunted woman, so she went underground.

If you could sum up The Nazi Officer's Wife in three words, what would they be?

    Courage. Love. Spirit.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Nazi Officer's Wife?

Edith listens to the radio BBC Thomas Mann. He tells about the extermination camp and Edith is unable to wrap her mind around all of the horror. She comes to understand the true understanding of "U-Boat", about living undercover with the Nazis,

Have you listened to any of Barbara Rosenblat’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, I haven't but I know I would enjoy them. She is wonderful!

If you could rename The Nazi Officer's Wife, what would you call it?

U-Boat: Buried Alive in Nazi Germany

    Any additional comments?

A fascinating story from beginning to end of a woman who was stronger than even SHE knew she was, more modern than she knew she was. An inspiration to women of all ages, creeds, and colors.
