The narrator was wonderful. The heroine lacked some spark that I can't put my finger on. Like she was just going through motions and not really invested in the romance. I still enjoyed the story and I think that was largely due to the wonderful narrator.
As ever, Eloisa James delivers an amazing story full of wonderful characters, witty dialogue, poignant moments and great romantic and sensuous love scenes. I've already ordered the next book.
Susan (narrator) did a wonderful job of expressing the characters emotions and voices. I have not liked all of Susan's narrations finding her singsong in the past annoying. However she has improved and her dramatization of the dialogue is superb.
The character development in this book was excellent. Each character had a personality that was recognizable and had depth. The story was creative, with sensuous and romantic love scenes that were not gratuitous but effective in developing the romance. The dialogue was natural and witty and one scene particularly poignant and realistic. Thank you Eloisa for a wonderful novel!
Great story, great characters, great passion, great romance, great narrator. Just great overall. Never read an Eloisa James story that I didn't like.
The narration was interesting with a man and a woman both narrating. I think I still prefer one person narrating. The story featured a lot of sex scenes but something fell flat with the romance and the characters. In addition some of this story was confusing. For instance, the author didn't remember One of the characters ages. The character was six and then seven months later she was five. Weird.
This book was better than the other two previous in the series, in my opinion. I actually read the books and they read better than they narrate. The dialogue can be pretty awkward when actually spoken. The story was sweet, romantic and sexy.
Nothing Great about this book for me. The narrator was just okay. The story was just okay. The characters were just okay. Seemed to be a little over dramatic for my taste. But I suppose things get a little dramatic when aliens take over your world.
The narrator was not the best. The story seemed a bit like a report and I'm not sure if that was because of the narrator or the author. That said, the story line was still interesting. Something just fell flat for me with this book.
First I have to say this book has a lot of sex in it. The sex starts out as just sensuous but not relational. However as this story grows, so does the love between the characters. I thought the narrator was amazing and I hardly ever completely like the narrator. So that is a big bonus for me with this book. The book ends realistically, not everyone is happy. The hero and heroine live happily ever after but the heroine's brother still has many struggles ahead of him. I see a sequel to this book and am anxious to read Liam's tale.
This story has an endearing plot with lots of heart. The love scenes are not only romantic but sensuous with lots of emotion and heart. The vulnerabilities of the characters are brought out during the love scenes and give the individuals depth and believability. Eloisa James has never disappointed me. The narrators sing song narration is a little grating at first but her voices during dialogue overshadow this aspect and I got used to it after a while.
The narrator was excellent, the characters well developed, the dialogue and story clever and the passion and romance well done! Thanks for a great listen to a wonderful book!
