Would you try another book from Gaelen Foley and/or Rebecca Cook?

    Not sure

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Some thing by Lisa Kleypas.

What about Rebecca Cook’s performance did you like?

    She does different voices well.

    Any additional comments?

The dialogue was corny. Not enough passionate scenes or attraction between the main characters. So much narration and not enough action. Wordy, wordy, wordy!

Raised by an unloving father who told him he was actually a bastard, Gareth St. Clair, the second son of a viscount, has plenty of private demons to battle. Years later, after ironically becoming the heir to the St. Clair title when his older brother dies, Gareth still doesn't understand why his father, Lord St. Clair, hasn't publicly denounced his position in society.

First let me say that Simon Prebble, narrator, is simply amazing! Wow! OK, that said, this book kept me intrigued, chuckling and happy to the very end. I loved it. Ms. Danbury, the old coot, was a such a great character. Hyacinth is so endearing and quirky. And the hero is very sexy! Very witty dialogue all around. The love scenes are steamy and detailed and beautiful! I loved everything about this book.

For makeup artist Grace Barrett, Hollywood isn't the land of golden opportunity. It's the land of difficult divas, cheating boyfriends and unemployment. So when her great-aunt offers her a free place to stay in Jackson Hole, Grace thinks she'll spend a little time in the sticks to figure out her life, and then move somewhere exciting to live out her dreams. But it turns out that there are a few more thrills in this small town than Grace was expecting….

I liked this book although the characters emotions seemed a little juvenile sometimes. The narrator was pretty good, not amazing but good. I liked the ending and the secondary characters. Overall, it wasn't Victoria Dahl's best efforts in my opinion. I enjoyed her other books much more; "Real Men Will', "Bad Boys Do", and "Good Girls Don't".

When Hannah's caught watching her late husband's cousin debauch the maid in the library, she's mortified - but also intrigued. An unpaid companion to his aunt, she's used to being ignored. The black sheep of the family, Leo has nothing but his good looks and noble birth to recommend him. Hannah ought to be appalled at what she's witnessed, but there's something about Leo that draws her to him.

The narrator was wonderful. The heroine lacked some spark that I can't put my finger on. Like she was just going through motions and not really invested in the romance. I still enjoyed the story and I think that was largely due to the wonderful narrator.

It’s a classic case of mistaken identity. But this time, it’s no mistake. Plans go hilariously and seductively awry when mild-mannered Audrey Thompson dresses as Ava, her flamboyant but cowardly twin. It is Audrey's task, as Ava, to break up with Ava's fiancé, Zach Banister. However, as Audrey is stuffing her bra and tottering around in her sister's stilettos, she falls for Zach instead. Little does she know Zach has an agenda all his own.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I'm not sure if the story could have rated a 5 star. I'm not sure if the story was juvenile or if the narrator just made it feel that way. Parts of the story made me smile and I thought maybe the lines would sound better in my head if the narrator wasn't delivering them.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

    Obviously the narrator.

    Any additional comments?

    I really liked the butler.

What did you love best about Secrets of a Summer Night?

I loved the plot and the realistic way she conveys conversation and life. The narrator was amazing! Great accents and every character was recognizable. She obviously read what she was reading before she started because she always knew what emotion to put into the dialogue even before the author made note of it.

Have you listened to any of Rosalyn Landor’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was romantic, it made me chuckle and it made me tense with anticipation.
