I didn't know this author before listening to this book so I was a bit skeptical, but I really enjoyed it. It is a great story and very well read.
FYI.. might be a little spoiler in this review, but I wish there had been before I bought the book.
After reading other reviews I expected the bad narrator, and that's what I got. As long as you go in expecting that then it's not THAT bad lol. I thought the story sounded interesting and was going to get the next 2 books in the series if I liked this one, but now I'm not so sure. The book went in a supernatural direction that I wasn't expecting and I wasn't really looking for that kind of story so it was a little disappointing.
I bought this book purely because it was on sale for $5. I read the description and it talked about kids in a grave yard and raising the devil. It sounded intriguing. Unfortunatly that's about the first half hour of the book. The rest is a quite boring detective story with uninteresting characters.
I'm a little confused at why this book is so popular. I've heard about it a lot and it was on sale so I thought I'd give it a try. If you're about to lead an army into battle, this is the book for you... if not, then what's the point?
The music at the end is nice though.
This book was full of excitement and didn't seem to slow down at all. It was a great story and I enjoyed the narrator as well. Definitely recommend it. I know it's one of Dean Koontz's older books, but if you've never read any of his books before, this is a great place to get hooked.
After reading 11/22/63 by King I was a little reluctant on buying another one of his books because it seems like he stopped writing thriller books. Unfortunately this one is exactly the same. Don't get me wrong, he is excellent with the English language and it was an entertaining book to listen to, but it didn't feel like Stephen King. There really isn't much excitement at all until the end. If you're a fan of Stephen King, go ahead and listen to the book, but don't expect a thriller at all!!!!
I haven't heard about this book until I started seeing the trailer for the film. The movie looks like it's going to be great but I was kind of disappointing by the book. As some of the other reviewers stated, it's really more of a collection of short stories rather then one story. You can get the idea of what happened but there's not really a solid timeline to follow. Some people may like this unconventional way of storytelling but it just isn't for me.
That being said, the actors did an excellent job in this version.
I hadn't heard of this author before so I was a bit skeptical, but I really enjoyed this book all the way to the end. Very well written and read.
I enjoyed this book, it is full of a lot of very interesting information. Reading it while at work I kept finding my self looking up references and doing a little research to get more info on some of the subjects about the military. I was kind of hoping to get more info about aliens, which was a little disappointing, but if you are a military history buff, you will love this book. The last chapter was by far my favorite!!!
I felt like this was more of a love story then a story about the assassination of Kennedy or anything like that. I was kind of disappointed that the majority of the story was about the relationship between two characters rather then the main character trying to reach his goal. Didn't feel like a Stephen King novel to me...
