The 25 years between the onset of the French Revolution in 1789 and the Bourbon Restoration after Napoleon in 1814 is an astonishing period in world history. This era shook the foundations of the old world and marked a permanent shift for politics, religion, and society - not just for France, but for all of Europe. An account of the events alone reads like something out of a thrilling novel.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Not a good reader for this topic, many inappropriate pauses, like she is reading this for the very first time. I can't finish this one, so sad.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Not a good match, I could fall asleep during the pauses.

    Any additional comments?

Win some lose some, this was a loser for moi.

The Great Recession has shuffled Clay Jannon out of his life as a San Francisco Web-design drone - and serendipity, sheer curiosity, and the ability to climb a ladder like a monkey has landed him a new gig working the night shift at Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore. But after just a few days on the job, Clay begins to realize that this store is even more curious than the name suggests. There are only a few customers, but they come in repeatedly and never seem to actually buy anything....

Susan says: "Fun, thought-provoking, mysterious.... and FUN !"

Where does Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Mr. P's 24 is one of my favorites. The narrator is perfect for the tale.

What did you like best about this story?

I like all the geeky type style and book references.
