"The body you are wearing used to be mine." So begins the letter Myfanwy Thomas is holding when she awakes in a London park surrounded by bodies all wearing latex gloves. With no recollection of who she is, Myfanwy must follow the instructions her former self left behind to discover her identity and track down the agents who want to destroy her. She soon learns that she is a Rook, a high-ranking member of a secret organization called the Checquy that battles the many supernatural forces at work in Britain.

This is one of the best books I've ever read! And that's from someone that reads as an Olympic sport. It gripped me from the first sentence , " the body you are wearing used to be mine", till the very last. The story is very different but utterly compelling. It's a great story, extremely well read and totally captivating. I simply can't recommend it highly enough! Miss it at your peril!

This book has a wonderful storyline, and is told incredibly well. The characters are extremely well developed, both human and animal
. Through the entire book you are privy to the thoughts as well as words and feelings of both the main characters. Due to this you become completely immersed in the story. You truly feel part of the world they live in, with all their beliefs and ways. I am struggling to find enough good words to say about this book! Suffice it to say I highly recommend this book, and anyone missing it will honestly miss a treat?

I really liked this book, from first to last. The history parts, especially the war part is so descriptive it really disturbed me. It added wonderfully to the story, but stayed with me for a very long time. It's a great story and flows at the perfect pace. I think it was beautifully read. A very in vocative story. Really looking forward to reading more by this author.

I doubt there are any superlative words that haven't been applied to these books! I mean, of course the three books that make the complete story. They do what we wish all books would do, they transport us to a different world. They are so well written, that you suspend belief very early and move straight to middle earth. The characters become well known friends, and you share all their adventures with real emotional investment. These books will have you laughing, crying, holding you breath and shaking your head! As I am not an author, I can't make you understand how wonderful they are, nor how fabulous is the narration, so I'll have to leave it at that. I believe if you don't hear these you will honestly miss on of life's most special experiences.

On January 17, 1913, alone and near starvation, Douglas Mawson, leader of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition, was hauling a sledge to get back to base camp - the dogs were gone. Mawson plunged through a snow bridge, dangling over an abyss by the sledge harness. A line of poetry gave him the will to haul himself back to the surface. On February 8, when he staggered back to base, his features unrecognizable, the first teammate to reach him blurted out, "Which one are you?"

This is a story of unbelievable courage and determination, but sadly it does not come across that way when you are listening to it.If fact it is a bit boring and hard to stick with. I found that there were parts that, really dragged. Yet when you take what is actually happening it's amazing. The problem is a combination of poor writing and not the best reading. I felt very disappointed because as I said, the story is really mind blowing. It deserves a far better treatment.

On doctor's orders, Bertie Wooster retires to sample the bucolic delights of Maiden Eggesford. But his idyll is rudely shattered by Aunt Dahlia who wants him to nobble a racehorse. Similar blots on Bertie's horizon come in the shape of Major Plank, the African explorer, Vanessa Cook, proud beauty and 'moulder of men', and Orlo Porter, who seems to have nothing else to do but to think of sundering Bertie's head from his body.

Its a good book, but very Wodehouse in that it repeats the same sort of stories as a lot of the other books. Nevertheless it's very funny and takes you back to the fairy tale England of Wodehouse.

Tony Hancock's premature death in 1968 at the age of 44 deprived the entertainment world of perhaps the greatest post-war comedian to have emerged from this country. It makes his 80 hours of material originally broadcast by the BBC on radio and television between 1954 and 1961 seem all the more priceless and rare. With his impeccable timing and brilliantly subtle shifts in intonation, he could create sound picture that bore the unmistakable hallmark of a genius.

Even after all this time they are still very funny. There style of comedy is terribly English, and a little old fashioned, but truly classic.
