At its core, The Power of Habit contains an exhilarating argument: The key to exercising regularly, losing weight, raising exceptional children, becoming more productive, building revolutionary companies and social movements, and achieving success is understanding how habits work. Habits aren’t destiny. As Charles Duhigg shows, by harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses, our communities, and our lives.

I loved all the stories in this book. Excellent book with superb examples. All Corporate Executives should definitely listen to the 4th chapter on Alcoa and its Transformation from habit change. Would have given it 5 stars but the ending last chapter is a bit muddled and does not quite flow well with the rest of the book. Last section seems like a thrown together college dissertation in argument for then suddenly against addictions.

Overall, absolutely a must listen for the stories.

John Perry did two things on his 75th birthday. First, he visited his wife's grave. Then he joined the army. The good news is that humanity finally made it into interstellar space. The bad news is that planets fit to live on are scarce - and alien races willing to fight us for them are common. So, we fight, to defend Earth and to stake our own claim to planetary real estate. Far from Earth, the war has been going on for decades: brutal, bloody, unyielding.

Would you listen to Old Man's War again? Why?

I have listened and chortled and smiled through almost all of John Scalzi twisted and wry novels, but this one has out done the others. Not so much funny as touching. Wonderful adventure. EXCELLENT narration. Can not wait to hear the rest of the series. I loved this book so much I probably will by a paper or electronic copy to keep.

I have been an Audible member since 1998 and have listened to over 400 books. This ranks as one of my top 10 favorites.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    All the characters.

Which character – as performed by William Dufris – was your favorite?

    John Perry

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

multiple moments though out the bood.

    Any additional comments?

Just buy it and enjoy. You will not be disappointed.

Once presided over by a flamboyant Hollywood mogul during the Roaring ’20s, the magnificent West Coast property known as Roseland is now home to a reclusive billionaire financier and his faithful servants. And, for the moment, it’s also a port in the storm for Odd Thomas and his traveling companion, the inscrutably charming Annamaria. In the wake of Odd’s most recent clash with lethal adversaries, the opulent manor’s comforts should be welcome. But there’s far more to Roseland than meets even the extraordinary eye of Odd, who soon suspects it may be more hell than haven.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I have loved all the other Odd Thomas novels and have listened to them twice. This one sort of gets old after the first 2 hours. I am not too sure if it is the verbal mental diarrhea that I get tiring or the story like is not quite as innovate / quirky as the other novels. The performance and reading is excellent, but perhaps the story line is getting old? If you have run out of everything else to read or listen to and have absolutely nothing else, then I would recommend trying this book out. Otherwise, I am sure are there are many other books.

Five thousand years out of the Labyrinth, the Minotaur finds himself in the American South, living in a trailer park and working as a line cook at a steakhouse. No longer a devourer of human flesh, the Minotaur is a socially inept, lonely creature with very human needs. But over a two-week period, as his life dissolves into chaos, this broken and alienated immortal awakens to the possibility for happiness and to the capacity for love.

This is one of those books that are much better hear over being read. The narration is perfectly paced and read. He captures the essence of the entire story with the single "Urrrrr" of the Minotaur. What I love most about the book is how the author captures the simple essences of life with wonderful prose and descriptions.

I actually had my daughter listen to many parts of this book to show her examples of how a great author can turn simple, mundane actions (e.g. cooking or driving or eating) can be turned into concepts and wonderful flourishing narratives without being overbearing or too "flowery."

Just a wonderful listen. Highly recommended.

I am a little more that half way through this story currently and have to say it is one of the best books I have heard ever. I have been an Audible member since 1998 and have listened to over 350 books This one is special.

Narration is one of the best. Reminds me of the "Water for Elephants" in the dream like first person active narration. Also reminds me of "The Prestige" for the magic and time period but much better.

You will NOT be disappointed. Wonder how they will every make this into a movie.

The world will end on Saturday. Next Saturday. Just before dinner, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.

If Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn had come of age at the end of the 20th century looking for an all-American adventure, they probably would've headed for Vegas. Could meditation and prayer affect the healing process? How do acupuncture, homeopathy, and healing touch work? Is it possible that the energy in our bodies is connected to the unlimited energy of the universe itself? Over 20 years ago, when physician Richard Gerber began to investigate the new frontiers of healing, he met with skepticism. Today, his groundbreaking views on alternative healing systems have entered the corridors of our major hospitals and research centers.

    Story

I am a internal medicine physician who has been practicing for over 18 years. I have been skeptical of alternative medicine - especially since I primarily practice acute hospital medicine, but since I personally have experienced illnesses and have seen the benefits of acupuncture, I have opened my mind and knowledge to other treatment modalities.

This book is an excellent and straight forward sketch of the structure and philosophy behind alternative medicine. It really should be a mandatory reading for all medical schools. Well narrated.
