If you haven't read/listened to the first one, please start there. If you have, why are you wasting time reading reviews? If you read the first one, you already know you want to read this book! ...and the next one ... and the next one ;)
Despite some less then ideal turns of events for Bo, the story maintains a slightly gloomy feeling to it while keeping you thoroughly entertained. It is just as fun as the first one and sets the stage for (hopefully) many entertaining adventures in the future.
The performance is great. I must say that my favorite kind of narrator gets the story across in such a way that you don't even realize that it's being read to you because the story just flows, and that is really the case here. The performance feels effortless in a very nice way.
I had already read the electronic version of the book but decided to get the audible version to refresh my memory before the second book of the series was published.
This story is a fun new series from HP Mallory and has many fantastic characters as well as a very fresh and interesting premise. Lily Harper is killed but has the option to be reborn with a new life, a new body and a new job - to rescue souls wrongfully sent to the Underground City. In this story she has little time to struggle with the loss of her life and her family because she is immediately sent on a mission that might cut this new life short before it even begins.
I have to say that some of the funnier moments were a bit lost when I listened to it, because the narration simply didn't capture the male characters. This didn't stop me from listening to it, and it wouldn't stop me from recommending it either, but if you are considering reading the book (and not listening to it) I would go with that. This is just one of those times when the voices in your head might be the better option!
This is a very fun road trip book that I think most people would like. I know all the people I have forced into listening to it have loved it (and I am not shy about demanding people listen to this book). This is not just a nice little romance (it is a totally fun and awesome romance), it is actually also a lot of fun in general.
I had no idea what to expect when I started listening to this book because this was the first I "read" (listened to) by HP Mallory. Boy was I not disappointed. This series really kept me interested, and I actually loved all of them so much that when I finished the last one I just started right back at the beginning! ...and then found other books she's written and bought them as well!
So if you've gotten as far as reading this review, stop stalling and just buy it already! You'll have a blast!
I had no idea what to expect when I started listening to this book. I stumbled upon it on one of my random browsing sessions on Audible and decided to check it out. Long story short: I listened to all of the Molly Harper written Amanda Ronconi read books in a few days.
Witty, exciting, romantic, endearing... Reading (listening to... I feel like I should say "consuming" for my greedy devouring of the whole series), this story feels like spending time with friends. The way the characters are written and performed makes them somehow seem incredibly familiar. Even if the whole vampire-scene is not your thing, I would still recommend this book (and I have, to some very anti-paranormal friends of mine, and they loved it!).
If you are considering either reading the book or listening to it, I recommend listening. The performance is great! If you were thinking about not reading or listening to it at all, then you should change your mind, because you would be missing out!
Very exciting as always. One can get completely lost listening to this story, the performance is great as always.
