Time has passed since the apprentice and his master, Will and Halt, led the Araluens to victory against invaders, and Will is now a full-fledged Ranger with his own fief to look after. The fief seems sleepy - boring, even - until the king is poisoned. Joined by his friend Alyss, Will is thrown headfirst into an extraordinary adventure propelled by fears of sorcery, and must determine who is trustworthy to the king and who is trying to take his throne.

    "Go with John Keating!"
    Overall

Books are excellent - story is really good - narrator BAD. Sounds like he's trying to make Will into a guy from England with a messed up John Wayne accent. What a joke. Get the one with Keating - don't bother with this one...

The dangerous, fanatical Imperial Order, under the leadership of the power-mad Emperor Jagang and his multitude of demonic underlings, unleashes a deadly plague. To find a cure, Richard Cypher and his beloved Kahlan Amnell must seek out the legendary Temple of the Winds, a fortress of evil sealed away for three thousand years. But the path of the Seeker of Truth is never an easy one - even if he can reach the Temple at all, there is no guarantee he'll ever return.

Danielle says: "Good book, poor narration"
    "Get A DIFFERENT NARRATOR!"
    Overall

Story seems to have been just another connection to the next book - lots of reiteration of what the reader should already know - that was a lottle annoying but what really makes it bad is the narrator! I thought he was talking about different people only to find it was his mispronouncation of the characters names! I wanted to quit the whole series within the first hour - don't fool yourself - it doesn't get better. His accent is not right for this book - felt like I was being read Charlettes Web.

The year is 2380. The Intersolar Commonwealth, a sphere of stars some 400 light-years in diameter, contains more than 600 worlds, interconnected by a web of transport "tunnels" known as wormholes. At the farthest edge of the Commonwealth, astronomer Dudley Bose observes the impossible: Over 1,000 light-years away, a star...vanishes. It does not go supernova. It does not collapse into a black hole. It simply disappears.

    Overall

I really enjoyed the book! There is actually a really good plot running through the entire story. The author gives you something to chew on with each pivotal character building their profile so you start to think like them. A few too many sleazy interludes than what was necessary for the story (really could have been left out for the most part) so I give it a 4 star - could have been a 5 star though...
