Well narrated. I like the occasional notes from Susan Sarandon.
The Odyssey is a favorite story that I read as a child. As an adult, this audio book surprised me at the involvement of the Gods in the daily lives of the Greeks. A Wonderful story.
I have a Swedish copy of the book. The story closes with a touching interaction (that I will not give away). But, it corresponds to the exactly to the original Swedish. A number of times I have been disappointed with the translations from Swedish or Norwegian.
More twists and turns. An intricate and very thrilling conclusion to the series.
I was captivated by the story early on - a good mix of detective noir and magic fantasy. The reader was very good and acted out the various characters well. It is true that the reader does breath and swallow quite a bit in the first half of the book. But, I feel that he was trying to add additional character to the wizard detective. This does not happen in the second half.
I am also very happy to see that there are many books in the series. Highly recommended.
I really liked this book when I was growing up in the 1950's. The narration here is good and the story is a classic.
But, I was struck by how very dated this story is. If you are a cyberpunk fan, this is not the book for you.
I loved American Gods. It was delightful to find Mr Nansi back from Gods in this book as well. Well narrated
I loved the written book and really like the audio book as well.
It sounds really dark - humanity is gone. But, it turns out to be a very hopeful book. Highly recommended.
The written book was wonderful and very dense. This audio book is engrossing, but didn't like the flat style of the narrator.
I absolutely love Bill Bryson's books and wish more were in an audio format. This is a great audio book for a long drive across the country.
Erik Larson tells a great story that makes it hard to stop listening. Highly recommended.
If you have a choice between reading and listening, I would choose at listening at least for the first run through the book. The author gives meticulous descriptions of places and genealogies. Hearing it read helps to make sense of the first part of the book. Great story - reader is very good.
