Gave dragon's back story
I like House of Night in the present better, just because It is in the present, and with so many books the characters are well established.
All are good
totally different and surprisingly good
Funnier than I expected. Never read any thing quite like it.
Yes, because of great narrator.
I listen to everything I can find, and all are great.
Recommend this narrator. I would listen to anything he read
Loved the first 2 books in the series but this one was not very engaging. I
did not really care about any of the characters. I missed the dog and the widow and the Tempe setting. The" big battle" seemed anti climactic.
This is what every thriller wants to be. It is in no way predictable and completely surprising at every turn. A dark anxious atmosphere, a hopeless quest, strange characters that seemed so real, a fantastic, unexpected hero that you will adore in spite of how disturbing he is, and once the ground is laid, virtually nonstop action make this one a real winner. The unbelievable plot ...... just feels completely real.
The narration isn't the best to listen to, but it did seem characteristic of the region. I sped up the playback on my ipod so it wasn't a problem for me. If the narrator bothers you, it is worth buying and reading.
I absolutely could not stop after about the mid point of this book, so be prepared to not want to stop once it gets really rolling. I listened while I cleaned my house so it kept me on task. This is a first for me! I think it would be a great travel book.
The characters, other than the main ones, are not as interesting, and it is deffinitely not as just plain hilarious as Jane. It is funny, but this book seems juvenile like young adult fiction . That is OK if the story is line is good and characters are well developed, but this one has graphic, somewhat violent sex scences that just don't seem to fit. It just made the book feel like an uneven, bumpy ride. It has humor which helps, but again not as funny.
This series is just so funny. Vampires are very popular now, but this series is a real stand out. I think the narration is perfect for this book.
I waited for this book thinking that it would be hard to live up to the first in the series. It is another ..... I guess, it is another mystery, but certainly there is no formula or anything predictable in the least here. It took everything further out there into Steig's world, but somehow he completely pulled me in again. It was even stranger and more fantastic. I should have found it to be less believable, but I bought in to it completely.... again It is like he creates a world and his characters live and breathe in it. Everything that happens engaged me. It surprised me, but felt real. I loved it .... maybe even more than the first. He is hands down my favorite writer because he convinces me so completely. I can't believe that his untimely death will leave us with only 3 books.
