I read this book in paperform and I loved it, in audio form it was just as good, EXCEPT , the reader was not my favorite. I hate to be critical, he made no reading errors, but he was very monotone in a lot of parts and his selected voice for one of the main charactors sounded like a bad impression of Arnold..but as far as the story itself, it's a real good one. It's worth a read if you like time travel / scifi/ and sword fights......all of which I love

Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have just saved the rebel state from destruction by the mighty forces of King Galbatorix, cruel ruler of the Empire. Now Eragon must travel to Ellesmera, land of the elves, for further training in the skills of the Dragon Rider: magic and swordsmanship. Soon he is on the journey of a lifetime, his eyes open to awe-inspiring new places and people, his days filled with fresh adventure. But chaos and betrayal plague him at every turn, and nothing is what it seems.

I read all of the other reviews before I typed mine, and as the reviews range from poor writting to great writting I guess it just proves that you can't please everyone...but I came away quite pleased. I read Eragon and i enjoyed it very much, at that time I had not yet discovered audiobooks, I have discovered the magic that an outstanding reader can add to a story, and in this case the reader was outstanding, providing a wide range of voices including three different dragon voices, I also didn't care for Saphira's voice at first, but then I realized that of course this is exactly how a dragon should sound. When I get engrossed in a story I let myself "go for the ride" with the story and yes there was quite a bit of training session in this story but Christopher is excellent at building a character , the love struggle that eragon is going through was masterfully handled through out the story. Christopher if you read these reviews, i think you have done a fantastic job on your story and I am enjoying it to the max. i look forward to the third book. keep it up.

This extraordinary, magical novel is the story of Clare, a beautiful art student, and Henry, a librarian, who have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36, and were married when Clare was 22 and Henry 30. Impossible but true, because Henry has Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity in his past, present, and future.

    "I miss them"
    Overall

I really thought about what to write about this book, even though it was a time travel book it was a very different concept of when Henry would go to , not to far either direction, but far enough to make it a bizarre story, I would love to think that the author would read this. When I finished this book, I felt like I really will miss being around Henry and Clare, the writing was VERY descriptive, I could easily SEE this story in my mind, that is my strongest compliment to an author, my hat is off to you. You immersed me in your story, great job. I would also like to say that the readers were great, this is the 1st audiobook that I have heard that featured TWO readers, they just brought it to life, they always switched to the other reader just when I was hanging on the readers words, i would feel like , No don't go, not now.....and then the same thing would happen when they switched back. This was a real emotional story and it touched me many times. A very nice job, and yes, it's worth the time to hear it.

    Overall

This is a very enjoyable dragon story, I love these type of books, but the real treat in this case is the reader, Brendan Frasier is amazing, he just brings the story to life. It is easy to forget that it's just one man reading this book, at one point he is doing a young boy, a male dragon,a female dragon,2 different scottish brownies,an English professor, his wife and daughter, a hindu woman , an Humuncilias, ravens,a serpent and a dwarf.......This is why these people are called Professional actors, unbelievable job, I loved it!, I hope that I can find another book that I enjoy this much.
