"Heavy on Anecdotes, light on data"
I am not sure it was worth my time, to be honest. While there were some interesting tidbits and I generally agree with the book's premise, I think there are better books on a similar topic. I enjoyed Brain Rules for Baby more. This book is written by a journalist rather than a scientist or doctor and it shows. He clearly put a lot of time and effort in the book and it is loaded with interesting anecdotes, but I would have rather heard a book based in more science and data.
More studies and research and less personal stories.
I thought the narration was certainly adequate.
I think it reminded me that I should emphasize perseverance more to my children as they grow up.
"Totally changed how I think about eating"
I highly recommend this book. The author shares his journey from carnivore to vegetarian. The book is well researched, engaging, thought provoking and philosophical. He considers the issues associated with eating animals from both a cultural, ethical, and nutritious standpoint. His in depth exploration of the horrors of factory farming, both for the animals as well as for people, make the book a must read. I've always cared about animals, but this book was an eye opener for me. I didn't realize how badly we're treating food animals, nor did I fully understand the consequences to me and my family. My only complaint is that he didn't explore milk and egg production in more detail...
The narration is great and the book is a must listen! It will give you a lot to chew on
"I love John Medina"
The book and narration are fantastic! This is a well-researched and interesting book which gives numerous insights into how the mind works, the differences between men and women, how to study and how to make presentations. While a wide variety of topics are covered, I feel that he did each topic justice.
Dr. Melina's narration was fantastic. He is enthusiastic, playful, and clear. He's able to take a subject that might otherwise appear dry and make it fun and engaging.
"Great narration and thought-provoking book"
Yes, the book was filled with insights into how the mind works, and why it works the way it does. It also provides some useful tips about how to influence people including the idea that by giving someone a choice, they'll become committed to whatever they end up choosing.
And the narrator was great! She had the perfect British teacher tone that was perfect for the book.
