"FANTASTIC! WELL DONE!"
I am not a fancy writer so I cannot praise this biography as it deserves to be. Flood expertly does what I expect from any biographer: he researches for factual accuracy and writes as if he knew Robert E. Lee ... so I felt as if I knew him, down to the detail of the combover to hide his baldness. My admiration for Gen. Lee increased in direct proportion to the new information presented by Charles Bracelen Flood. FIVE STARS
"Second book not as good as the first"
This book follows the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency and, like the first book, is charmingly narrated by Lisette Lecat. The story line is weaker, although the characters remain strong and likeable. A good book by itself, but disappointing as a follow up to the No. 1 book.
"Grant deserves better"
Despite its excellent reviews, I found this book to be so dull that I fell asleep every time I put the ear buds in. Most of the info was old hat. I did learn he was only 5 ft 5 in. tall. Story: disappointing. Narrator: a sleeping pill
"Recommended juvenile literature"
Charming murder mystery with cats that can read and talk ... but only their "owners" know. As an adult reader, it was disappointing and you can drive holes through some of the story. But for juvenile readers... PURR fect! Nothing racy, no bad language. Cute, cute, cute.
"A must read ... recommend paper version"
An interesting and well researched thesis. I am fascinated by how the New Testament was assembled. Ehrman is an expert with impeccable credentials but he is repititive. The narrator does not add anything to the equation. Still, I RECOMMEND IT because it has been carefully researched back to the earliest compilations in about 300 years after Jesus' life. Get it in paper form, so you can flip through the repeats.
"Fab book made great by the reader"
Great story, unforgettable "leading lady" and her garage shop friend. The reader is clearly "channelling" Precious. Without the reader this would be a good audio book. With her, it is a great book on audio. If it were a book in print, I would say I couldn't put it down. It made me curious about Botswana and since my knowledge of that country was nil, that's a good thing!
