Roland, the last gunslinger, is a solitary figure, perhaps accursed, who with a strange single-mindedness traverses an exhausted, almost timeless landscape of good and evil.

    This was a very entertaining book that was full of science. For anyone who has visited Pompeii or has seen pictures of the petrified bodies in National Geographic this is the book for you. I've always tried to imagine who these people were, they had lives, jobs, interests. This book brought them to life. For those of us who live in the shadow of a volcano this could be our future. I highly recommend it.
