"The Audio Book That Wasn't"
If this had actually been an audio book about the subject matter listed in the title, it might have been worthy of my time. I don't mind deviations from the subject but this isn't a book period. This is an advertisement for several other books. It's conversations with authors of books in a radio show interview format. I wasn't looking for, nor should I have to pay for, or suffer advertisements for books cleverly disguised as a book for purchase. This should be FREE and I urge audible to refund purchase of this advertisement for books to maintain their own credibility. The subject matter is interesting. I was so disappointed that it wasn't actually a book on the subject matter, or on any of the subject matters discussed in the radio interview style ad.
"Wonderful Historical Story, Incredible Writing"
The story and telling of it is superb. This Australian trilogy may well become a classic. Mr. Courtenay is a word-smith of the highest caliber. Mr. Bower is an excellent voice to represent this finely crafted novel. I look forward to the next books in the trilogy! Well Done.
"Interesting & Well Explained"
I enjoyed this audio book very much. While there are many points I take issue with, I regard the book highly. It was clear, concise and insightful. The explanations about complex matters were very good. I have a far better grasp on some of the more complex systems in place in our government than previously. Regardless of whether one agrees with the author on some of the conclusions drawn or not, the explanations, history and evolution are thoughtful and stunning. I will listen to this one again.
"They Lost Me In the Realm of Good Audio Editing"
Forget the music. If you feel a need to add music, do it sparingly and in a manner that enhances rather than detracts from the communication. The music goes from soft to hard rock and there is far too much and it is far too loud. In some instances the music is like a filler to pad the time, and I don't like wasting mine on another person's music taste. I would have truly enjoyed this audio book had it had no music. As it stands, I can't finish it even though it is a subject I find quite interesting. And by the way, I like music too. I just prefer to listen to my choice of it on my terms.
