Someone who enjoys being bludgeoned by story after story about people's sexual fetishes.
It depends on if they branched out into different genres.
Most of the narration was good it was the stories that were lacking.
The characters weren't the issue.
This was my first erotica reading and I thought I would check it out. I found that it's not for me but others may enjoy it if it's your thing.
The concept was great and the tie in with historic events entertaining.
Sure. Just don't go into it thinking it's a blockbuster.
I don't think a follow up would be quite as interesting as the novel first idea.
People this intelligent would have done things somewhat differently in my opinion. If they're the best in their fields, more experimentation would have been conducted to ascertain the demon's weaknesses. It's not like they had decades to figure it out. Wait, they did.
The closure. It was nice to see the all of the parts fitting into the last battle.
I don't really have a favorite character in this series as the characters don't really think their way through anything.
My favorite part was where Rand didn't die after all and came back with the power of the pattern.
No. If it could be listened to in one sitting, it would be too short.
Brandon Sanderson added more intellect and depth to the characters which I thought was SORELY needed. I believe if he hadn't stepped in to finish the books, I would not have been interested in listening to the last ones.
Altered Carbon is different than most of the books I've listened to so far combining a futuristic view of humanity while still maintaining the age old faults and vices. For me it was a nice listen for three main reasons: 1. I couldn't always predict where the story was leading 2. when you were introduced with something that seemed insubstantial, it would rear it's head later being an integral part of the story and 3. despite it's grimy beginning, Takeshi Kovacs seemed to have some redeeming qualities after all.
There is only one character (Kovacs) to really appreciate here as a favorite while other characters were interesting in their detail.
I've listened to Altered Carbon and Broken Angels. Todd's narration spoiled me for when I listened to the third book, Woken Furies, it was hard to stay interested in the story missing the narrator from the previous two books.
No extreme reaction just a continued level of interest throughout.
Well worth the listen in my opinion but be warned, some of the sex scenes are very graphic but still didn't take away from the overall story.
I would definitely recommend this audiobook to others. Brandon writes another refreshing world and fills it with life and color.
The new angle on light being the basis of power.
Lightsong, of course.
Heroes come from the most unlikely places.
METAtropolis ranks in the upper percent of the audio books that I've purchased from Audible.
Although many of the characters were well written and filled out, I believe my favorite amongst them was Reggie Stratton. Reggie was near to giving up on the state of the world and was awakened to a new purpose and a new fight in a world he thought was beyond him really caring about.
Many of the narrators were very good in their performance although the first narrator was very difficult to listen to due to his gravelly voice.
Due to the limitations on my time, I cannot listen to any book in one sitting. Hence my turning to audio books. They allow me to still immerse myself in a story yet not be held in one place and limited to one activity while I'm experiencing the story.
I liked METAtroplis and if you did, try METAtroplis: Cascadia.
Will Wheaton's narration really reflected the character's emotions and gave you a feel for each situation the author had the characters in. Truthfully, I didn't know he was that good and was pleasantly surprised.
Someone finally wrote a good story about the plight of the red shirts.
Most of the main characters were done well but I like the interaction between the characters in the science lab!
I think 'Redshirts' says it all.
Well worth the listen. Wil should branch out in the audiobook narrations. He does a good job in Metatropolis also.
