One hundred years before Ender's Game, the aliens arrived on Earth with fire and death. Earth Afire by Orson Scott Card and Aaron Johnston is the story of the First Formic War. Victor Delgado beat the alien ship to Earth, but just barely. Not soon enough to convince skeptical governments that there was a threat. They didn’t believe that until space stations and ships and colonies went up in sudden flame. And when that happened, only Mazer Rackham and the Mobile Operations Police could move fast enough to meet the threat.

    "Good story ended too soon."

What did you like best about this story?

Good story with lots of good background on events for anybody interested in the Enderverse. Mazer Rackham is the man.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

A couple of the Narrators sounded like they whined their whole performance. It made characters who were supposed to be intelligent and savvy sound like morons.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes. The ending was too abrupt. It's almost like it ended mid-sentence. More could have been resolved and I would be more likely to read the next one. It's hard to trust that you're going to get your money's worth when the story just suddenly stops. Disappointing.
