"This book will give you nightmares," cautions The New York Times. Richard Preston takes us inside the ongoing war against bioterrorism, investigating the anthrax attacks of October 2001 and the potential for a future bio-attack using smallpox or, worse yet, a new superpox virus resistant to all vaccines. "As exciting as the best thrillers, yet scarier by far, for Preston's pages deal with clear, present and very real dangers," says Publishers Weekly.

Lieutenant Commander Matthew Reddy, along with the men and women of the USS Walker, have chosen sides in a war not of their making. They have allied with the Lemurians - a mammalian race whose peaceful existence is under attack from the warlike, reptilian Grik. The Lemurians are vastly outnumbered and ignorant of warfare, and even the guns and technology of Walker cannot turn the tide of battle.

I drive alot, 20k miles in 7 months. I listened to all these books and was disappointed that there were not more of them... The story is fantastic, the characters become real, I really cared about what was happening to them.
The details were realistic even though some characters were not. It's a great series, but it really has a cliff hanger ending. I hope the author continues the series.

Given the importance of what they do, and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of this country only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five.... Nothing is as it seems and everything’s fair game in this wickedly clever new novel from John Grisham, the undisputed master of the legal thriller.

What made the experience of listening to The Racketeer the most enjoyable?

    Very believable

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mal, he had everything under control at all times.

What about J.D. Jackson’s performance did you like?

His voice did not intrude, I usually knew who was speaking and it made the telling flow.

    Any additional comments?

I can't wait for Grisham's next book! My favorite author

If you could sum up Illusion in three words, what would they be?

    Spellbinding, Riveting, Fantastic!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mandy, she was so complex, Peretti made her completely believable, her character was totally real, and she behaved so naturally in each situation.

What about Frank Peretti???s performance did you like?

The ability to read the book like he was telling a story, he knew where to put the pauses, hesitations, whispers, etc.

    Any additional comments?

I hope he writes more novels. He's a wonderful story teller.

Excellent book. If you have to make a decision between this book or either of the 2 poorly made movies based on this book, then the choice is simple....skip the movies and read or listen to this book.Actually the book rates 5 stars but the narration is irritating enough for me to give the 4 star rating. In an effort to be overly dramatic the narrator at times yells into the microphone.

The Sun and the Moon tells the delightful and surprisingly true story of how a series of articles in the Sun newspaper in 1835 convinced the citizens of New York that the moon was inhabited. Purporting to reveal discoveries of a famous British astronomer, the series described such moon life as unicorns, beavers that walked upright, and four-foot-tall flying man-bats. It quickly became the most widely circulated newspaper story of the era.

Large parts of this book are very interesting and hold your attention 100%.
Large parts of this book quotes AT LENGTH some of the sources for the authors material. The original material written by this author are the fantastically good parts. The quoted material should be left on the shelf.
The narrator does a fantastic job of narration.

This is the story of James Leininger, who---a little more than two weeks after his second birthday---began having blood-curdling nightmares that just would not stop. When James began screaming out recurring phrases like "Plane on fire! Little man can't get out!" the Leiningers finally admitted that they truly had to take notice.

Masterfully tying together history, science, and human drama, The Lost Dinosaurs of Egypt is the gripping account of two of the 20th century's great expeditions of discovery. In 1911 a German paleontologist found the remains of four entirely new dinosaurs in the Egyptian desert, but in a single night, all of his work was destroyed. Eighty-nine years later, an American grad student leads an expedition to unearth Stromer's dinosaur graveyard, and in doing so, he stuns the scientific world.

At more than a hundred feet deep in the frigid Gulf of St. Lawrence, diving the Empress is like trying to navigate an unfamiliar sixty-story building lying on its side at a forty-five-degree angle, in pitch blackness with only a flashlight. In Dark Descent, Kevin McMurray takes us deep into the bowels of the lost ship, first to relive her tragic death and then to join the divers who have probed the wreck's secrets. It's an adventure from which some divers don't return.

    Story

This is an interesting story and probably worth listening to. This reminds me of the reason I usually do NOT listen to abridged books. It is difficult to tell if the author presented the material in a choppy manner or if it was improperly chopped up by the abridgement, causing a lack of continuity. I have listened to the narrator before and he is good. However his style was wrong for this book. If you have not already listened to them then listen to Dragon Sea (good) or Shadow divers(excellent). Save this one for last or better yet find it unabridged or get the book and read it.
