"Powerfull"
I approached this audio book with some trepidation, my only experience of LeGiuns work being "The Dispossesed", a book I have read many times, enjoyed as much for its message and thought provoking qualities as for its evocative landscapes. This audio book is in the same league, rich narrative, spare descriptive writting, powerfull message. It would assist the listener to have some understanding of "TAO", this concept being central to the theme. The Audio is a little dated, but the ear soon adjusts and the narrator does a fine job.A great follow on from "The Time Travellers Wife" which had been my previous listen.
"Charming and Insightful"
It's absolutely great when you think you know a little about a subject but then realise you know nothing, your perspective of historical events widens and world appears a little different. This book is about the evolution of the British Monarchy, but it is also as much about the development of the principles of modern parliamentry democracy, the English langauge and so much more. I loved it, and the narration was excellent!
"Shadows and Memory"
A story of revenge and redemption, multiple storylines weave together in a haunting symphony as Iris, the elderly protagonist recites her small but compelling story. Highly recommended if your taste is skeward toward the slightly unusual.
"Absorbing"
Got off to a slow start, but by the end I really cared about the characters. Good narration, quality writing, unusaual theme which unfolded beautifully. I drive all over over NZ as a sales rep. and audio books fill the long spaces between destinations, this has been my favourite so far.
