Here we are now 5,000 years after Paul led the Fremen and 1,500 years after Leto II. We see that those scattered in the scattering are coming back with a new enemy. This new enemy thinks that they can conquer the old empire quickly and easily. Gee, if that was true then there would be no story would there. They also have a secret. Here we also learn all the side effects of Leto II golden Path when he took over the breeding program. There are many moving parts that help set the stage for the rest of the books in the series.
We’ve all done it and wondered why later. That is we’ve left where we were at because it looked better on the other side of the ‘bridge’. We get there and do the same thing we did before on the ‘other side’. Instead of preparing ourselves for crossing the ‘bridge’ where we can achieve our goals and dreams. Where we can work diligently, patiently and intelligently toward our goals. I can’t count how many people I know have left their ‘diamonds’ laying there because they simply wouldn’t look or plan. Let no one hold you back and when you do move, move with a PLAN!
I learned when I was in the Marines that you really have three choices in life: Lead, Follow or Get out of the way! Those that ‘Get out of the Way’ simply sit around and go ‘Why me?’. Those that ‘Follow’ are either learning to lead or simply don’t see how they can lead. Those that ‘Lead’ see that they can lead and have no desire to settle for what someone tells them they can have or what they’re given. This book is about learning how to ‘Lead’ and why we are constantly being told wrong that we ‘can’t have it all.’ Why not? I want my dreams and I reach for them despite what others tell me. If you listen to this book and apply what is there you’ll ‘Lead the field’ and change your life.
I first heard this I was working for PFS and it was on their required reading list. That was in 2007 and I’ve listened to it several time since. It was my first introduction to this kind of book and I found the message very simple: what I think about and concentrate on will come true if I’m willing to take the appropriate action to achieve it. I started setting goals with the attitude of attaining them. I learned to research and develop a game plan for my life based on truth and honesty. Over the years I’ve increased skills based on my dreams, goals and my desire to move forward. This is a short read and WELL worth it’s time to listen too.
I got this book and I wondered why until I realized I was considering changing jobs. I work in the stock trading industry and I’m VERY well compensated. However, I’m not happy at all! So, the other day while going through my audible library I came across this book I bought and hadn’t listened too. So, I did and the Dalai Lama is correct when he says, ‘if your not happy then you need to find what does make you happy.’ I like what I do and I enjoy the freedom it brings. However, I followed the very basic steps outlined in this book and realized that no matter how GREAT the compensation is it’s not worth the stress and BS. I’m now looking at a job that pays less, but gives me the same freedom. There are things more important in this world than money and I no longer care about what others think or what my peers are doing. Let them work themselves to death while I spend time with my family. If you’re not happy and you want to start figuring out why then this is the book for you.
I’ve only ever seen the Disney movie version of this book and as usual it doesn’t live up to reality. For anyone with kids you need to get this book and listen to it. Here we meet Dr. Dolittle and learn the real story of how he learned to talk to animals. We also learn how he became so popular. Get this for you kids if you want to laugh and see them smile.
I've read abridged versions of this book and I've seen many movie adaptations of it. None of which can hold anything up to the original. After reading the 'Tale of Two Cities' I've been going through and reading the classic novels. I can understand why the movies never get it right. These stories are WAY to in-depth for a 2 hour slot. The same issue the ran into with the Lord of the rings series. If with them being 6 hours long they only scratched the surface of books. I won't spoil the book for anyone. I will say the depth of the story line and the depth of each character surpasses anything I've read today with George R.R. Martin coming the closest. Melanie Rawn is another. I really enjoyed the narrator and their ability to bring the story to life.
If you want to know the 'True' story behind the 'Count of Monte Cristo' you should read this book.
For those of us that have read the Law of One series or found ourselves reading it only to release you’ve been living/doing it this book is of good help. I think I would have gotten more out of it if I hadn’t already found myself on the Law of One path before I knew what the Law of One is. Read it if you haven’t. This book ties in completely with the Source Field Investigations, but adds so much more depth to everything. Here the author takes what was covered in the Source Field Investigations and add another level to it. The author goes more indepth into how were all connected and that life isn’t as completely random as we thought. We’re not controlled because of ‘Free Will’, but we are guided as much as we can be. We’re still human after all. I personally found the sections on forgiveness useful and helpful. I use information from them to help my students by giving them a perspective that isn’t mine. Like my Buddhist teacher and my Tao Sifu used to do. I recommend this book to my friends and family. Check it out. What do you have to lose? What do you have to gain?
I read this book years ago and found it interesting then. Know I find it enlightening. I sent a quote from the book to a teacher friend of mine who brags about all the papers they’ve wrote. What is the point of writing just to hear yourself talk? What is the point of writing to write what no one will read? That hit home with me and I changed the way I talk. I’m direct now with no beating around the bush and people like it. This is a great book for those starting out in Taoism or already on the path. I’m now waiting for the ‘Te of Piglet’ to come out on audible.
I've seen many, many movies based on this story and each one has the same theme. The man in the Iron Mask was the kings twin. History doesn't know whether he was or not. So, a lot of movies were based on the whispering of the French nobility. So, I decided after listening too/reading Oliver Twist and finding it didn't match any movie I decided to do this book. I was surprised that the movies have it wrong. Imagine that? But what do they have wrong and write? Read and find out! I like the narrator of this book as he doesn't get the voices confused as he reads along. I can also understand why this book should be required reading in school.
I love this book in many ways. I like the part where he talks about if I do a job not in my job description then I should get paid for both jobs. So, at work I do three ‘jobs’ not in my description that should fall to others. This means I would make a lot of many, right? Except my boss doesn’t see it that way. Now the union guys get paid for it if they do it. No, we’re not union here. We’re stock traders.
I also like the part about getting paid double if your married and your wife is home taking care of the kids. Now a ‘Wife’ is a VERY demanding job and I think women should get paid for it. I mean if you hired someone to do that kind of work you’d pay 100k a year for it. I’m not married, but I would give my ‘wife’ a salary if I had one and the government would stop taking half my income.
I do understand the government better now and understand why they can’t control themselves. Their too busy listening to the 1% and going into debt. Like Dave Ramsey, Adam Smith says debt it dump and any government in debt should be removed from service. He then goes on to explain why gold has no value at all. Really? Then why do people want it?
There are lot of parts to this book including sections as to why you should keep people dumb and ignorant. Or why women need to be controlled and kept under their fathers, brothers, or husbands ‘guidance.’ Basically do nothing to disturb the ‘learned man’ from keeping the country moving. There are even parts where he talks about using the unions to intentionally keep prices high or low. Plus how they can use their power to stop the government. The whole section on using religion to control the worlds population is worth a read by itself. I can see why the elite’s love this book.
