It was just another after-work happy-hour bar downtown, where business professionals unwound with a few drinks, complained about the boss, maybe hooked up with someone for the night. Until something went terribly wrong. At first it was just a friction in the air. The noise intensified. The crowd seemed oppressive. Some sharp words were exchanged, some pushing and shoving. Then the madness descended. And after 12 minutes of chaos and violence, 80 people lay dead.

If you could sum up Delusion In Death in three words, what would they be?

    Robb done good!

What did you like best about this story?

I am a big fan of the Eve Dallas series. Most series would become boring after 30+ books but not in this case. Each story can stand on it's own. I have collected every book in the series as well as the audiobook to go with it.

Which character – as performed by Susan Ericksen – was your favorite?

Well, Eve, of course! I am amazed at the range of voices she is capable of and often pick up and listen to ANY book she records. So far I haven't found a bad one.

For two years, Justice Turnbull has paced his room at Halo Valley Security Hospital, planning to escape. Justice has a mission - one that began with a vicious murder two decades ago. And there are so many others who must be sent back to the hell that spawned them. Laura Adderley didn’t plan to get pregnant by her soon-to-be ex-husband, though she’ll do anything to protect her baby. But now reporter Harrison Frost is asking questions about the mysterious group of women who live at Siren Song lodge. Harrison hasn’t figured out Laura’s connection to the story yet.

I truly love Lisa Jackson's previous books and couldn't wait to hear this one. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be so terribly boring. Too much detail and convoluted storyline. I also have also enjoyed listening to Susan Erickson, particularly with J D Robb's In Death series. Her reading of this book came out as very angry with alot of angst and drama. I returned the book without even finishing the first section. Just waaaaay too BORING!

What made the experience of listening to Dead to the World the most enjoyable?

I'm a major Sookie fan so I may be a bit prejudiced! The books are best done in numerical as each builds and refers to the previous book. Hope Johanna Parker stays healthy since I can't imagine anyone else reading these stories. She sounds very much like Anna Paquin on True Blood. I usually read the book first and then listen to it. It's amazing to me how many things I've missed when reading.

What other book might you compare Dead to the World to and why?

    Any other Charlaine Harris book!

Have you listened to any of Johanna Parker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    Yes & Very well!
