The Atonement Child explores the devastating consequences of rape and resulting pregnancy on innocent victims, their families, and their faith.

What would have made The Atonement Child better?

A younger narrator. The voice is that of an old woman so every character sounds old. It really detracted from my enjoyment of the story, which was compelling.

How could the performance have been better?

A younger voice for the narrator.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I listen while I run or sew and this story jumped around from place to place and if you weren't listening carefully you missed where you were and which character was being talked about. Perhaps it is easier to keep track when actually reading the book.

What was most disappointing about Alan Furst’s story?

    It jumped around.

Would you listen to another book narrated by George Guidall?

    Probably

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It seemed like the story was going to be good.

Laurel Shields, 35 and mother of two, awakens to find that her husband, Warren, a prominent local physician, is not in bed with her. Creeping out to the kitchen of their palatial home, she sees him through the doorway of his study, wildly pulling books from the shelves.

What was most disappointing about Greg Iles’s story?

If you have been betrayed by your spouse do NOT get this book. It starts out with the "other" side of an affair, the two affair partners and all their feelings and emotions about their spouses, each other, etc. I was weeping 45 minutes into it. Unbearable.
