This book was very good. The author tells an interesting story and the narrator was very pleasant. There are a few slow spots in the story but over all it's worth the listen.
The story could have been good. There were several times that I thought the plot might pick up but it never delivered. The authors tries to build up these huge tramatic events for both of the main characters but we never really get full details. And when a little comes out...nothing happens. No resolution, no great aha moment, no great anything. Both characters are depressed most of the time and when they finally get back together and have some action in the story, it just ends. Blah.
There were a few good set-ups in the plot that just got ignored. Did the editors cut out chapters?? Who did Mark call in the park? Was it the police? Why didn't anyone call the police? What happened to the ex-boyfriend? What did he say to her brother? Are they just going back to see her mom and that's the end of the story. Nothing more. Whatever.
Jessica Geffen's performance was great. She did very well with all of the characters.
The twin brother. You didn't even know that Sydney had a brother until half way through the book. And then all of the sudden, her brother was her twin? For no real reason. And then her abusive ex-boyfriend was her brothers friend. But none of that matters. The ex-boyfriend should have just remained an unknow rapist for as much as it added to the plot.
Don't buy this book...it's not worth your money or time.
The story is good but the Susan Ericksen's performance makes it great!
The characters are really well developed. I couldn't wait for the next book, and 3rd and 4th!
Lt. Dallas, of course. I love her character.
For anyone that is looking to relax and likes to take their time getting to through a story, this books for you. The story was good but the tempo/pace and deep voice of the reader just made it boring to me.
I actually changed my iPod speed to "faster" which helped for a while. It was just too slow.
Driving Mr. Dead
Cal - Amanda Ronconi has the greatest ability to hit that perfect note of sarcastic, idiot, jack-a@#, cute guy tone.
Alice Hoffman has not just written an amazing story but her words bring you straight to the heart of Masada. Four very different yet bonded women give tell of their journey, creating this life for readers, placing their heart and souls in our hands. There are few books that I read over and over....this will be one of them.
Deborah Harkness has caught my attention again with Shadow of Night. Once again, I found myself completely captured by the characters and the settings that she so wonderfully creates. I can not wait for the release of the third book to find out what happens with Mathew and Diana and their ever growing family of witches, demons, vampires and humans.
My emotions were hit hard at Diana's loss. I felt her all of her sorrow and mourning.
She is fantastic!
Glasgo (not sure of spelling since I was listening, not reading). You know he has so much to tell. He sees so much, is involved in everything and I know there is a story or four there.
Kevin Hearne has given us another amazing story with Tricked. And Luke Daniels has brought the characters to life once again. I can not wait for Trapped...
I admit it, I chose this book based on the dude on the front cover. What? He's cute. But let me tell you that I was completely and fantastically surprised to find a very clever, well written, amusing story. Atticus is a great character on his own but it's the relationships that Hearne has created that makes this book so good. How Atticus treats the widow, each interaction with the Gods, and best of all that with Oberon. I totally think that my own dog would sound and behave like this Irish hound. Sausages and French poodles on the brain 24/7. Finally, the reader of the series, Luke Daniels, just brings it all to life. I had the entire series lined up on my iPod before finishing the last chapter of Hounded and can not wait for the release of Tricked.
The Taker is a great story. I loved the performance of the reader. And overall the story was very good, well written and so interesting!! I just felt that that we didn't get the complete story. Or maybe it was that we had too many very good stories with none of them ever giving that feeling of satisfaction. Though Katsu certainly has set up a series in the making, and I'm looking forward to more.
