"Someone PLEASE tell me the next one is coming soon"
Sweeping and epic!
Kate was my favorite character. She was a strong woman, who never let the fact that she was orphaned at a young age, or that her future turned out to be much different than she expected be an excuse to give into whining and self-pity, though there are a few times where she probably could be forgiven for doing so. Also, Kate is a woman of strong convictions, and she remains steadfast and dedicated to those convictions, even when an easier path presents itself. In a literary world of whiny, wishy-washy female leads, Elle Bright's Kate is a breath of fresh air!
Kathleen Mary Carthy was EXCELLENT! She made the men sound like men, and the women sound like women. She has a true story teller's voice.
If I could have, I would have listened to this in one go. As it was, I listened to Fall of Darkness when I got ready for work and driving to work at 4 a.m., and every time I had to turn it off, I wished I could keep listening!
If Kathleen Mary Carthy keeps reading Elle's words, I'm going to keep listening!
"Spooky good fun!"
My husband and Iistened to this while on a road trip, and we both enjoyed it quite a bit. Great story and great cast! Listening to David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson along with Mitch Pileggi, The Lone Gunmen, and The Cigarette Smoking Man was like listening to one of the original t.v. show episodes. We're really hoping more audiobooks are written and produced!
"Glad I took a chance!"
I spent my precious monthly credit and took a chance on this book, and I'm glad I did. Meryn Evans made me giggle, and reminded me of the Charlie Bradbury character from Supernatural. And of course, who can resist sexy bear shifter Aiden Mackenzie?
There are, as far as I can tell, eleven more books in this series, and I'm a little disappointed that none of ther rest of the books are on Audible yet, but I shall endeaver to carry on, and actually read the others.
A couple things left me wanting in the plot, and this is why I rated it a 4 instead of a 5 star book.
1. The spell mentioned in the synopsis is only referred to in casual, throwaway lines. I would have liked to have read more about the reasons behind it and how it came to pass.
2. The threat wasn't completely resolved. Perhaps this is to fuel a sense of cliffhanger in the reader, but for me, the death of the assassin without any kind of further information just didn't do it for me. I feel a little more could have been said about the reasons behind the sinister happenings.
Over all, I enjoyed My Commander, and hope the rest will soon come to Audible.
"A sweet story"
What a sweet story! After seeing the movie, I decided to purchase the audiobook, and I'm glad I did! Kids of all ages will enjoy this tale of friendship and adventure!
"FANTASTIC!!!"
What can I say about The Martian that hasn't already been said? Funny? Yes. Riveting? Yes. A fantastic listen? Most definitely. This is one that I listen to over and over again, and I recommend it to everyone!
"What a follow up!"
Armada felt like coming home! With Wil Wheaton's voice telling the story and so many little nods to things that I grew up with, it was a homecoming.
Definitely gotta give a shout out to Ready Player One. With the hero being a young man who is bored with his small town and looking for adventure in both books, there is a definite connection.
Definitely the hero, Zach Lightman!
Adventure comes a knockin'!
