Startling, unusual, and yet irresistably readable, Among Others is at once the compelling story of a young woman struggling to escape a troubled childhood, a brilliant diary of first encounters with the great novels of modern fantasy and SF, and a spellbinding tale of escape from ancient enchantment.

    Eoin says: "Subtle Character Piece"
"A very different coming of age story."

If you could sum up Among Others in three words, what would they be?

    Blossoming, fannish, and different

What does Katherine Kellgren bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Love the accent. Really brought me me over to Wales with the voice.

    Any additional comments?

It's not a usual coming of age story. The characters are all flawed, some with deep scars inside. Made it more real, more believable characters. Really enjoyed the book. Also enjoyed her discovering the fannish world and her love of books.

Neither Tony nor the vampires are aware of the other's efforts to search out these rogues, who may number in the hundreds at the very least. Tony holds information the vampires don't - he knows that Xenides, Saxom's eldest vampire child, has allied with terrorists.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It's not the Classic hot romantic vampire book. The main character is more a real person finding her way around her new life. And it's not all happiness and good.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blood Sense?

In the beginning of the book. When they are trying to bring her back to life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Yes. I cried and laughed.

    Any additional comments?

This is a must read series. I badly want the next book.

Our favorite white trash zombie, Angel Crawford, has enough problems of her own, what with dealing with her alcoholic, deadbeat dad, issues with her not-quite boyfriend, the zombie mafia, industrial espionage, and evil corporations. Oh, and it’s raining, and won’t let up. But things get even crazier when a zombie movie starts filming in town, and Angel begins to suspect that it’s not just the plot of the movie that's rotten. Soon she's fighting her way through mud, blood, bullets, and intrigue, even as zombies, both real and fake, prowl the streets.

Relaxed, pure enjoyment, fun. Yes, there is the whole zombie thing with eating brains but it's not gross.

What did you like best about this story?

The main character. She is always questioning, trying to figure stuff out, and does not take peoples shit.

But now they've stopped hiding, and nothing will be the same.

Would you try another book from Kim Harrison and/or Marguerite Gavin?

Maybe. I'm not totally writing other books off but they with not be top on my list.

Do you think Dead Witch Walking needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes because it ends with them just starting up their business.

    Any additional comments?

Since I only listened to the book, I don't know if it was the narrator's fault that it sounded snarky and jaded or if that was the way it was written. I like strong women characters but this one was just hard to like at all.

Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she'd like. Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.
