  • The End of the Affair

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 28 mins)
    • By Graham Greene
    • Narrated By Colin Firth

Graham Greene’s evocative analysis of the love of self, the love of another, and the love of God is an English classic that has been translated for the stage, the screen, and even the opera house. Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, A Single Man) turns in an authentic and stirring performance for this distinguished audio release.

Emily - Audible says: "Colin Firth Kills It"
    "Pretty depressing"
What disappointed you about The End of the Affair?

I don't know. It just seemed to sort of drag on & on, and was majorly depressing. Probably just not my taste in books.

Would you ever listen to anything by Graham Greene again?

What about Colin Firth’s performance did you like?

    Colin Firth was PHENOMENAL

  • Once Burned: A Night Prince Novel, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 30 mins)
    • By Jeaniene Frost
    • Narrated By Tavia Gilbert

After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: a terrifying ability to channel electricity and to see a person's darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude ... until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire. Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all - but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula.

Hassan says: "LOVED it from the beginning"
"Great narration! Story a little lacking."
Would you listen to Once Burned again? Why?

No. No need. The story was just "okay" for me.

If you’ve listened to books by Jeaniene Frost before, how does this one compare?

I've never listened to any others before this one. I've read all of her Night Huntress novels, however.

What does Tavia Gilbert bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Vlad's dialect.

    Any additional comments?

Tavia Gilbert narrated this wonderfully. I didn't care much for her Bones narration, but everyone else was great.

  • Bared to You: A Crossfire Novel, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 32 mins)
    • By Sylvia Day
    • Narrated By Jill Redfield
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

"Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness… He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds…and desires."

    "Hated it"
What would have made Bared to You better?

A story! Some character development. Some depth to any of it.

Has Bared to You turned you off from other books in this genre?

Would you be willing to try another one of Jill Redfield’s performances?

Not if there are any men in it. She did well with the lead character, but Gideon...oh boy...horrible.

What character would you cut from Bared to You?

    Eva and Gideon

    Any additional comments?

This was a complete Fifty Shades of Grey knock-off and has me so disappointed and, frankly, disgusted, that I don't think I'll try another of this author's books - though I've heard her other books are good. I don't know if I want to take the chance.

  • Voyager

    • UNABRIDGED (43 hrs and 51 mins)
    • By Diana Gabaldon
    • Narrated By Davina Porter
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Set in the intriguing Scotland of 200 years ago, the third installment in the romantic adventures of Jamie and Claire is as compelling as the first. Now that Claire knows Jamie survived the slaughter at Culloden, she is faced with the most difficult decision of her life. She aches to travel back through time again to find the love of her life, but, in order to do that, she must leave their daughter behind.

Kathy says: "Hurry up! I want them all!"
    "I'm ruined for other series!"
Where does Voyager rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Tops! I've only recently started listening to audiobooks. I've already read all of the Outlander series, but in anticipation of her upcoming novel, have decided to listen to them as well (I spend a large part of my day in the car). Davina Porter is an EXCELLENT narrator..and, of course, the books are perfection!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Voyager?

    The print shop...hands down :-)

What about Davina Porter’s performance did you like?

    The accents.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Oh yes.
