For fans of Tina Fey and David Sedaris - Internet star Jenny Lawson, aka The Bloggess, makes her literary debut. Jenny Lawson realized that the most mortifying moments of our lives - the ones we'd like to pretend never happened - are in fact the ones that define us. In Let's Pretend This Never Happened, Lawson takes readers on a hilarious journey recalling her bizarre upbringing in rural Texas, her devastatingly awkward high school years, and her relationship with her long-suffering husband, Victor.

    D. S. Smith says: "How the Bloggess almost made me crash my car!"
    "So awesomely hilarious!"

Where does Let's Pretend This Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I love these "memoirs" that are read by the author. This is the third I have listened to and totally turned me on to the Bloggess. Since I have only listened to two other similar titles it is hard to rank, but I think I listened to the whole thing in only 3 days so...

What did you like best about this story?

    Her honesty, humor and quirkiness.

Which character – as performed by Jenny Lawson – was your favorite?

    Herself?

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Not sure...obviously a lot of people like this book, but it was not for me. pethaps I am used to better quality writing. Even in the erotica genre, there is much better quality literature. Take the Best Erotica Short Stories anthologies for example.

What was most disappointing about E L James’s story?

I felt like I was listening to a high school creative writing class project. It was so poorly written and the narration was horrid. It was read so slow - someone else in the reviews suggested increasing the speed and that helped a bit, but not enough to hold my interest. I gave up after three chapters.

Would you be willing to try another one of Becca Battoe’s performances?

Maybe she would do better with a better written book?

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fifty Shades of Grey?

I would have gotten a thesaurus for the author.

    Any additional comments?

I can see how this made good internet fanfiction, but perhaps it wasn't professionally written enough for publishing?
