A walled city surrounded by lush land, protected by high mountain summits, and fortified by a massive gate to secure the only pass into the valley, The Bastion remained humanity's last hope against the fearsome undead creatures known as the Inferi Scourge. On one fateful day, the valley gate failed and the Inferi Scourge overran and destroyed the human settlements outside the walls, trapping the remaining survivors inside the city. Now, decades later, the last remaining humans are struggling to survive....

I did get use to the narrator after awhile, but it was really hard to get into because of the voice. It was read way to fast and not a pleasant voice. The story was okay. Some of the concepts were a little hard to believe. Some parts were a little frustrating. For example, if you are running out of bullets then why not use a blade instead? Or if there is the technology to create a cure for the new version of the cure then why isn't there a cure for the original?

Picking up where The First Days ends, Fighting to Survive features the further zombie-killing, civilization-saving adventures of a pair of sexy, kick butt heroines and the men who love them. A hundred or so survivors of the zombie plague have found tenuous safety in the walled off center of a small Texas town. Now the hard work of survival begins - finding enough food; creating safe, weather-resistant shelter; establishing laws; and fighting off both the undead who want to eat them and the living bandits who want to rob and kill them.

This book would have been better if there wasn't so much focus on sexuality. Some of the character's are also way over the top. It wasn't a bad listen, but there is better books out there. I do like some of the humor in this book.

This book has been sitting in my wish list since it came out. I kept on pushing it aside to read something else. I am so glad I finally listened to it. I enjoyed it right from the start. There where times that where a little slow and drawn out, but the overall story makes up for it.

I liked the narrarator for the most part. The fake accent was a little hard to listen to at first, but I got use to it quickly. I am looking forward to the next book!

I was a little disappointed. It wasn't a bad book, but it wasn't great either. There were quite a few dull moments and a few areas that don't make a lot of sénse. It has some potentiomal to be a decent series, but I will only listen to the next book, if I can get it from the library or free. I think if you're in your younger teens, you will probably enjoy the book more then I did.

    What disappointed you about Reached?

It was very drawn out and quite boring. I really don't like how they threw in a relationship for Zander at the end. I had a very hard time getting through this book. It was nothing like the first one. I still would like to know who the "enemy" is.

What could Ally Condie have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Kept the story similar to the first book. This one had many sections that were way too convient and hard to believe. There were also questions that went unanswered. Overall, I am very disappointed.

How could the performance have been better?

The girl did great but Kye(not sure of the spelling) was pretty awful. By the end his voice was very irritating.

What character would you cut from Reached?

Zander's new girl. I believe her name is Layla. It felt like she was just added in at the end so everyone could have a happy ending.

    Any additional comments?

This book manages to be drawn out and rushed at the same time. I can't even explain how that is possible.

Yes, I would. It's easier to get into and the narrator is great!
