"You’ve seen it all before. A malicious online rumor costs a company millions. A political sideshow derails the national news cycle and destroys a candidate. Some product or celebrity zooms from total obscurity to viral sensation. What you don’t know is that someone is responsible for all this. Usually, someone like me. I’m a media manipulator. In a world where blogs control and distort the news, my job is to control blogs—as much as any one person can."

I have to say, this is one of the best books I have listened to since I started with Audible. The writer presents information that I always suspected but couldn't nail down. He's current, articulate and must lead a very interesting life. Buying a book ( print or audio) is never hard but this author delivered about 200% value. The content speaks for itself. If you haven't read or listened to this book, give it some serious thought. You will NOT be disappointed! Great Job Ryan! Have you written anything else?

Telescopes on Earth have detected an Earth-sized planet circling a star some 30 light-years away. Now the race is on to get pictures of that distant world that show whether or not the planet is truly like Earth - and if it bears life. Farside observatory will have the largest optical telescope in the solar system and the most sensitive radio telescope, insulated from the interference of Earth’s radio chatter by a thousand kilometers of the moon’s solid body. But building Farside is a complex, dangerous task. And what they ultimately find stuns everyone, and humanity will never be the same.

I was a bit surprised when I read this book. It was my first Ben Bova story and I was expecting something a little better. Right from the start, I found that the story wasn't very descriptive. The dialog was weak in my opinion and I had hope the author would ad more to the scenes. If I am missing something, then feel free to recommend another book of his.

I am sorry I bought this audio book and wished I hadn't. Firstly, the narration is aweful..the fellow reading/writing it has a poor command of the english language and is hard to listen to. He hesitates at the wrong time and even his jokes are not funny. I don't think the author took this publication as serious.

In my copy of the audio book, there is a background hum through the whole presentation. As he narrates, you can hear when he shuts the recording off. Not very professional.

In terms of the website addresses he describes, I found 2 that were non-existent.

In many areas, the author rambles on about basic webpage creation that has nothing to do with the subject and simply is filling up space.

This book is embarrassing for Audible.com . They should consider removing.

    My 2 cents

The New York Times now publishes FiveThirtyEight.com, where Silver is one of the nation’s most influential political forecasters. Drawing on his own groundbreaking work, Silver examines the world of prediction, investigating how we can distinguish a true signal from a universe of noisy data.

I loved this book! I have been buying MAKER magazine and getting to know more and more about the DIY community. Firstly, the narration is probably the best I have heard on Audible. Clear, easy to listen to and almost addicting. The examples, the stories and the common sense that the author dishes out is pretty cool. Its very easy to "Get" what he is saying and its one of those books that makes you want to read/listen the next chapter and not put it down. I listened to this book in 3 days and I put it at the top of the list of books i have purchased from Audible.

On November 10, 2008, Dr. Eben Alexander was driven into coma by a disease so lethal that only 1 in 10,000,000 survive. Seven days later, he awakened with memories of a fantastic odyssey deep into another realm that were more real than this earthly one - memories that included meeting a deceased birth sister he had never known existed. Dr. Alexander deployed all his knowledge as a scientist to find out whether his mind could have played a trick on him. In its shutdown state, there was no way it could have.

When anyone can start a business (when everyone is running their career like a business), it begs a question. This is your one chance at life, you can have anything you want, what is worth doing? Most people don't know why they're doing what they're doing. They imitate others, go with the flow, and follow paths without making their own. They spend decades in pursuit of something that someone convinced them they should want, without realizing that it won't make them happy. Anything You Want is a manifesto about living life, appreciating enough, and doing what matters.

I loved this book and how it was presented. There was some great information and Derek makes it very clear how things worked or didn't. His honest approach but also entertaining approach made me want to read it again. This is one of those authors who I would follow and by every book he comes out with. I put him up in the SETH GODIN level and think he has alot to offer. Again, a fantastic read, very clear and easy to listen to. And I had a great laugh as well. He's pretty funny.

How did Apple rebound from a decade-long slump? By creating a product, the iPod, that transformed not just the company, but the entire music industry. How did Whole Foods turn itself into a supermarket empire? By challenging the sacred cows of the food business. And how did Dove differentiate its line of beauty products? By creating the concept of "real beauty". In Big Think Strategy, Bernd Schmitt shows you how to "think big" by sourcing and implementing bold ideas that change markets.

I enjoyed this book and loved how the author presented the concept of the Big Think. It was a book I listened to while walking every night trying to get in shape. It seemed every 20 ft I was telling myself, "hey, hes right on the money on that." I also liked the examples given. Nothing was to difficult. Lastly, I found teh book was interesting and exciting to read the whol eway through. No dips or chapters that sucked...the whole thing was very fluid.
