"Odd even for Dexter, but enjoyable!"
I enjoyed this Dexter novel - was nice to see him gain a little more humanity related to Lilly Anne. The cannabalism... well, that was an interesting twist! I am looknig forward to seeing what happens to Dexter next!
I have to ask why Jeff Lindsay felt the need to narrate... he doesn't do a terrible job, but there were a lot of monotone sentences, and I missed the "dark delight" that Nick Landrum seems to bring to Dexter's voice!
"Pretty good!"
I enjoyed this - it felt "long" at times, but it was a pretty good story.
"It was okay--"
I love Kitty, but I just didn't not get into this one the way I have in the previous books. (The last couple have been off for me.) I was really interested in the historic bent that the book started on - then we derailed to San Francisco and Roman... and I only half-listened through the last couple of hours so I'd know what happened. Hoping the spark is back in the next book! :) PS: Love Marguerite Gavin as always!
"Not that bad..."
I was almost afraid to get the new "Queen Betsy" based on what some of the reviewers said, but I went for it... had to see what was going to happen!
It was certainly not as bad as others made it out to be - Betsy is the same vampy gal in this book as she is in all the others - but I can't say that I found this as entertaining as the first several books. (What was up with Nick/Dick... I don't know why his name had to change...) :)
I think MaryJanice Davidson is building toward something interesting... but it's unfortunate that the story has lost some of the charm and fun that it had when we started.
I will keep reading/listening! PS: Nancy Wu does an outstanding job as always!!
"Made me laugh!"
This was a very enjoyable book - what I consider a light, fun read! Kyra Davis made me laugh out loud a few times, which is hard to do. :) I think the narrator did a great job. Will listen to more in this series.
"A little bland..."
I love Rachel and team, but I could only give this one three stars. There were points when I truly felt that the story was just being drawn out to add length. I will keep reading the series, just didn't find this one as good as the others.
"Finally some movement!"
This series while interesting has been moving a little slow, considering it takes a book to get through one night of the story... we actually get through a few days in Awakened, and the story moves along quite a bit. Looking forward to the next installment.
"Captivating"
I found The Hunger Games to be a slow start, but once I got into it, I was captivated by this story! I have to admit some disappointment at the end, as it appears we are going to be trapped in a love triangle, and I guess I thought Katniss would be above that... :) I am taking a break from the series, but do want to come back to it and finish the trilogy.
"Can't agree with average ratings..."
I cannot say that I "loved" Halfway to the Grave. I found Kat to be a very immature heroine, and listening to the narrator attempting the "Bones" accent was very grating at times!
But - after reading what the next book is about, I think that I may give #2 a shot and see if the Kat and the series grow up a bit!
"Terribly slow!"
I usually like Dean Koontz, but this book was terribly slow - so slow it was really hard to pay attention to what was being read. All of the action happened in the last hour, and it took way too long to get to that point.
I appreciate that a young girl was showing off a big vocabulary in the book, but Dean Koontz also seemed to be showing off his love of big words and lofty descriptions - all completely unnecessary and just adding to the number of hours it took to get through this.
Steven Weber did a great job as narrator - I would listen to him again. Big fan! :)
"Really like this series!"
I enjoyed Abby enough to go on and read the rest of the series, and I am glad I did - the books seem to get better and better! All of the books are a fun read!
Try Victoria Laurie's "Ghost Hunter" series as well!
