I don't often write reviews as my tastes don't have to meet other's standards. I started to enjoy Mr. Weber's books when I picked up the first Safehold book. I've been a fan ever since. At that time I was looking for lots of action to relax with. While Safehold din't have the action I thought I wanted, This War God Series gets "5 stars" in that part. I'm a teacher, and it's my policy to NOT give any 100%s for work done by anyone especially me. ( I figure there's always room for improvement.) Still, I have to admit that much of my personal "book" budget goes for his Titles. This guy makes really good universes and really believable people to put in them. I'm looking forward to many, many more Weber-World books. So, far I've found all his books well written, and haven't had much complaint about the narration (some of the accents seem too contrived for me and get in the way of the story.) but that's NOT Mr.Weber's fault, I think. If you've ever liked anything else by Mr. Weber you should like this book a lot. So, far this series rates TWO Ears and a Tail from me.

The story is entertaining, just think about the scene as in an alternate reality. I'm a series fan, and I have several books of this series. I'm looking forward to many more of this series. OK, the guys and girls aren't "super-heroes" and that's another good thing about the series. I can picture myself as just about any of them, but I think I should feel more fear than comes thru. Quite a bit of my personal "book budget" is invested in Audible Books, it's convenient for me to listen while I'm doing "drudge work" or relaxing between classes. I like the balance of action and dialog, but I keep thinking "what is he/she thinking about in this situation?" Or "does he have any plan of action or reaction?" If you're gonna lead a group you need a basic 'op' plan (who takes care of the car, who goes in the back, etc). for the fight. I'm interested in these guys' way of thinking. I like an "action tripod" #1, What (action), #2, Why?, and #3, How? If I got all that I might have to give 5 Stars for the first time in my life. Thank you.

I bought this book in order to try out a woman writer for a change. I sometimes find a man who seems able to think/write from what I think of as a woman's point of view. I'm old fashioned, I'd rather hear/read about "making love" rather than "having sex". Anyway, the "Spider" seems to rely on "magic healers" quite a bit. I think this "Spider" needs more technique for her specialty than she has. The story is entertaining, just think about the scene as an alternate reality. I'm a series fan, and I have five books of this series and I don't know if I'll buy any more for a while. I'm not DIS-satisfied with what I've bought so far, but they just don't seem to be my style.
