"Gave Me Shivers!"
The tension between Sam and Danny really kept me going. It is obvious from the very beginning that there is something there, but it kept you on the edge of your seat just waiting for something to happen between the two of them. I had listened to the sneak peaks audible released...and they kept releasing another chapter from week to week, until finally I had to buy it because I was hooked! I ended up finishing this book in one day!
I would have to say Sam was my favorite. She just continues to surprise you throughout the story while you learn her history and everything she has been through and goes through in this book. A really great character!
I think this is the first time I have heard her before, and I thought she did a good job! She has a good voice and acts out the characters well, allowing you to understand who is who.
Not one specifically. There were quite a few intense moments...not to give anything away. ;)
Overall a great story...with a twist at the end that I honestly didn't see coming! Worth the credit!
"HEALING WOUNDS!"
This second book focuses on Dante, Beta of the Phoenix pack, and Jamie, a newer member but an old friend. While Dante and Jamie have known each other since they were kids, a lot has changed since they have seen each other, including their attraction to each other. While they help each other with each other's past, including Jamie with her struggle to keep her agressive wolf side at bay, thing between them progress more and more. And well...I'm sure you see where things start going. ;)
I was so excited for this second book in this series, and neither Suzanne Wright nor Jill Redfield, the narrator, disappointed!! I thought this book was just as good if not better, and I can tell that Wright is going deeper into her characters, and I'm really loving it!! She also did a really good job I thought of setting things up for the books yet to come, and I am very anxious for them! Things were left bitter sweet in this one, and I am excited to see where things will continue from here!
"A LIFE CHANGING GAME"
This second book was better than the last! Cole seems to have such a way to write characters in such a way that make them seem like nothing could possible work between them, and then she surprises you over and over again. She certainly did that in No Rest for the Wicked as a valkyrie, Kaderin, meets her match in a vampire, Sebastian, and sworn enemy.
Kaderin has every reason to hate vampires considering one killed her sisters years ago...now she hunts them and saves a fang for everyone she kills. Sebastian, on the other hand, was forced into becoming a vampire by his brother, and has lived with it, hating every minute for the past three hundred years, but he wishes to no longer.
The day he meets Kaderin everything changes... he is brought back to life, and for the first time Kaderin is unable to kill a vampire. As Kaderin enters the High, a month-long competition promising a reward that can bring back her sisters, after meeting Sebastian, he ends up following her through it while trying to win her over. Just when you think things are possible...the game changes again.
This book has it all...suspense, action, intensity, death, and life...not to mention more great characters and great lines!! I am loving these books, and I can't stop reading/listening to them. Robert Petkoff is great, and all I can do is keep going... :)
"SERIES LIKE NO OTHER! :)"
This was a great start to a new series...well I realize it isn't new, but for me it is. :)
A friend told me about this series, and I'm glad I listened! Although I am currently on book five in this series, I can honestly say that they continue to get better and better!! This first one, while it isn't my favorite, it is a great start as Kresley Cole introduces the Lore (world of supernatural and immortal beings). There is a lot to take in, but it is done very well making it easy to follow.
Hunger Like No Other focuses on Lachlain MacRieve, a Lykae (aka werewolf) King, who escapes from vampire torture to find his mate. Once he finds her, Emmaline, he discovers that she is half vampire...an enemy to werewolves. Emmaline, who is actually the last female vampire, has been pretty sheltered all her life after her parents died. While she is finally seeking the answers to her past, she meets MacRieve, and is taken on a ride that will change everything. As they travel across the country, her acting as his guide, to his home in Scotland...there is a lot of tension, prejudice, and...well...let me just say things get interesting. ;)
I am loving this new Lore world, and the characters are amazing...and so many good lines!! Robert Petkoff, the narrator, is really great!! At first his some of his impressions seemed weak, but he grows on you and gets better over time and does a fantastic job!! I'm in for a long ride as I continue this series. So excited!!
"FINALLY!!!"
Ahhh...the suspense!! Finally Lover At Last is here, and Blay and Qhuinn finally have their chance...or do they? Where does one start in reviewing this book!?!? Lover At Last has frustrating, suspenseful, intense, romantic, sad, and happy moments to name a few, and new characters and possible love interests!?!? J.R. Ward has a way of filling her book with OMG moments, and she definitely doesn't hold back in here.
Qhuinn and Blay have literally had their ups and downs, but as Qhuinn jumps in and attempts to save the day yet again, his near death experience serves as a much needed wake up call. As Qhuinn finally realizes what he wants, is it too late? If only people could speak their mind from the beginning!!
Yes...it is a bit predictable, but I thought it was so worth listening to, and I am very interested to see where the stories continue to go!! Trez, Assail, Xcor, and Layla...so many stories going on...not to mention the next book is going to focus on Wrath...there is a lot more coming!! Now until the next book...only a year away! Hope patience pays off!! ;)
"VLAD MET HIS MATCH!!"
I don't know how Frost does it...but she never disappoints!! Once Burned left you guessing as to where things could possibly go next between Vlad and Leila...and...well lets just say Twice Tempted doesn't make things go any easier for either of them.
Since the last book, you know Leila wants more from Vlad, but he just doesn't seem willing to give any more than he already his has. Nothing has changed for either of them in this next chapter, but they are both put to the test in many ways, some good and some not so good. Just when you think there is no hope...WOW!!...there is so much to say but I don't want to give anything away.
Again, there is so much packed into this book, and countless OMG moments! You just have to listen to it to find out, and Tavia Gilbert does another great job in narrating!! I can promise you it will be well worth credit! :)
"GOOD BUT NOT GREAT."
I'm a big fan of Maya Banks's historial romances, but this one, unfortunately, just didn't do it for me. :(
The overal story was interesting, as Grey, Dallas cop, investigates the murder of his partner. As he tries to get close the one connection and lead that he has, he ends up falling for Faith. In the beginning you get the impression that the story revolves around a submissive and dominant relationship, but I was surprised to find that it wasn't...not entirely.
Faith hasn't had life easy, but has always seemed to pull through. Although strong, and thinking she knows what she wants, her deepest desire is not to have to be strong any longer...instead she wants to be taken care of by someone else. When Grey walks into her life, everything seems to change for the both of them. There were some intense and steamy moments...but when the dominance and and commands came into play...it didn't do much for me.
I really tried to like this one, but it was just okay for me and pretty predictable. I think the overall concept of someone taking care of you down to every little detail got to be too much for me and I didn't really get into the characters. The narration, although she was good overall...in combination with this story, didn't help me like it any more. I would maybe give it 2 1/2 stars, but not quite three.
"FERAL ROMANCE!"
This author as well as the narrator, Jill Redfield...were both a first for me, and I was amazed!!! Wright's writing is so great...it is serious, sad, suspenseful, LOL hilarious...She gave this book everything, including amazing characters. And Jill Redfield's narration was...truly amazing!! I am officially a fan of both!
Taryn Warner...is probably one of my favorite book characters ever! She is someone you wouldn't want to mess with despite her size and her latent wolf. She is so funny...the lines she has in here had me laughing so hard and ones that I will have to try to remember. :) Despite her feisty personality...she has another side to her that you don't really expect and surprises you.
Trey Coleman is great too! Again someone who you wouldn't want to stand up to considering his reputation, but he will also stun you in more ways than one! The relationship between him and Taryn seems to focus a lot on dominance, especially in the beginning...which I admit went a little over the top at times...but as thing progress, it only gets better. :)
While the story is a bit predictable...the book doesn't cease to surprise you. This book had me hooked into the first chapter...it was really hard to stop listening! There are quite a few of OMG moments...and overall I though it was a great book!!! If only I could give 1/2 stars...this one would be 4 1/2...almost a 5 in my book! Now I just have to wait for book two! ;)
"MAGICAL ROMANCE"
Christine Feehan is new author for me as well as Angela Brazil as narrator...and this first book was pretty good for a first. I was surprised that it had a magical element behind it...but I felt it made it even better!
The characters I thought were great! Riki isn't your average girl in so many ways, and she never ceases to surprise you. Despite her condition, she is very strong willed, brave, and courageous when she needs to be. Sid (aka Lev or Levi) on the other hand, I admit made me nervous, but he proves himself in here time and time again despite who he was before Riki.
There are moments when you aren't sure where things are headed...but the love and sparks (literally) keep you going in the story. The magic that Riki and Lev share is great, and the many intimate moments are very well done.
The only thing that I didn't care for was the amount of repetition. I found Christine Feehan said a lot of things over and over...granted to get the message across...but it got to the point where it was annoying.
Overall though...good story...good narration...good romance! Not a great...but definitely good and worth a listen! Would give it 3 1/2 if I could. :)
"TOHRMENT & NO'ONE!!"
WOW!! After listening to this.....I am speechless!! Ward certainly likes to throw her readers for a loop...and back again I might add! She certainly doesn't hold anything back with Lover Reborn!!
All I can say is poor Tohr!! For being such the "male of worth" that he is...he sure has gone through hell and back!! After loosing Wellsie, my heart broke for him! Considering the pain he goes through I don't blame him for taking his time at anything, and am so glad when things start to look up. I don't want to ruin it...but again...just when you think things are getting better...something happens that you never expected!
Again...so much is packed in this book. John and Xhex...Qhuinn...Lassiter...and the band of bastards(who...I cannot believe I am starting to like despite everything they are trying to do...Ward really has a way of twisting things around)!!
OMG!! My head is just spinning!! It is so much to take in...and I cannot wait for the next book...Lover At Last!! I must say this along with Lover Mine...are the best two in the series thus far!! Hands down!!
"HEALING!"
I love what Ward is doing with the multi stories in one! Lover Unleashed focuses on Payne and Vishous...it's all about the twins this time. :)
Out of the two stories...Vishous's was my favorite in this book. Similar to his story in Lover Unbound, you see even more of him as he opens up in a whole new way while he struggles with dealing his past, his newly discovered sister, and his Jane. Out of all the brothers, Vishous is a huge favorite of mine (that is next to John Matthew) and he only gets better in here!
As for Payne...she is a warrior through and through...just like her brother and she is finally allowed to come into this world...the only problem is she isn't exactly whole. While she is at her wits end and ready to give up...Dr. Manuel Manello enters and heals her in more ways than one!!
Once again J.R. Ward doesn't disappoint!!
