Mary Tyler Moore made her name as Dick Van Dyke's wife on the eponymous show; she was a cute, unassuming housewife that audiences loved. But when screenwriters James Brooks and Allan Burnes dreamed up an edgy show about a divorced woman with a career, network executives replied: "Americans won't watch television about New York City, divorcées, men with mustaches, or Jews." But Moore and her team were committed, and when the show finally aired, in spite of tepid reviews, fans loved it.

In 1942, the Brooklyn-born Erickson was a millionaire oil mogul who volunteered for a dangerous mission inside the Third Reich: Locating the top-secret synthetic oil plants that kept the German war machine running. To fool the Nazis, Erickson played the role of a collaborator. He hung a portrait of Hitler in his apartment and "disowned" his Jewish best friend, then flew to Berlin, where he charmed Himmler and signed lucrative oil deals with the architects of the Final Solution.

This is based in a real live man who was born in the USA and moved to SWEDEN to an oil company mogul. He marries a swede and then World War 2 starts. He is recruited to spy for the allies. Erik Erickson is known as RED......his code name and comes up with the idea of a "oil refinery" in neutral Sweden to gain access to the oil refineries in Germany. This aids in helping the allies fine locations for bombings. This is a good audio. Moves alone well and keeps the interest. I give it 3 out of 5.....

Sallie wondered if Rhy would recognize her after seven years. She'd lost weight, loosened up and turned her talents to news reporting for one of the nation's leading magazines. After all this time, would Rhy Baines, the news publisher, recognize his wife? Sallie Jerome, a.k.a. Mrs. Baines, had picked up the pieces of shattered dreams after Rhy walked out. She'd become the independent, self-possessed woman he'd always wanted. Only now, she didn't want him. Or did she?

PLOT: Sallie Jerome has her estranged husband become her new Boss.....

early Linda Howard and not one of her best....Sallie Jerome aka Sarah....used to be a plump woman who married sexy Rhy. He soon found his travels as a world class journalist more interesting than his little frumpy wife. After she looses her baby she and Rhy part ways........ 9 years later Sarah is now Sallie and still married but only her close friend know it. She is now a slender intelligent reporter and loves her job. When Rhy shows up.... she has not seen in years becomes her new boss she is not happy by any means. She tried to avoid him hoping he will not recognize her. When Rhy soon curtails her adventuresome reporting she gets bored. Rhy wants to get close to Sallie but she find he has a mistress Coral. This is a very dated book complete with "hero Rhy" who we do not like and is very dominate mentally and physically with Sallie. This story is interesting but this early Linda Howard is not one of her best. What makes this book AWEFUL is the reader. I have no idea why Dreamscape is not getting this right. This woman is the WORSE reader in all the hundreds of books I have ever heard. She is speeds up and then way down and then goes to Minnie mouse....LOL...bad....I did the fair thing and listened to the whole book but ONLY because of Linda Howard.....I would not bother with this one....and I can ONLY give it a 1 STARS because of Linda Howard and that is being generous. AVOID this LEMON.....even sugar would 'not' help it. Try Mr. Perfect.....and know what a good audiobook by Linda Howard is......

Here is a gripping, behind-the-scenes look inside the classic suspense shocker Psycho - and the creative genius who revolutionized filmmaking. First released in June 1960, Psycho altered the landscape of horror films forever. But just as compelling as the movie itself is the story behind it. Stephen Rebello brings to life the creation of one of Hollywood’s most iconic films, from the story of Wisconsin murderer Ed Gein, the real-life inspiration for the character of Norman Bates, to Hitchcock’s groundbreaking achievements in cinematography, sound, editing, and promotion.

Plot: soapy look a the Master of suspense.

1959 and cinema is changing. Studios are looking for cheaper budgets that bring in huge profits. Alfred Hitchcock is looking for his next "project"....and comes across a book about an early serial killer from Wisconsin. The then 'shocking' murders combined with sex and transvestite behavior is all unheard of. So Hitchcock acquires the "right" the murder bio of serial killer Ed Gein. the studios do not want to make this movie....refuse to finance it so Hitchcock takes the huge gamble to finance it himself. He swears the actors and film crew to secrecy about the excellent plot and soon starts to film the classic horror movie Psycho. This goes behind the scenes and gives us details of Hitchcock and his wife and often behind scenes partner Alma. As the methodical shots and plot are given "the masters touch" he also battles for the first time some nudity and blood and yes even a toilet for the first time in film. this is a very good book. You have to like Hitchcock to enjoy it. The plot is most entertaining and gives us look into 1960s life and mentality. His over the top marketing of the film that made him RICH and put this movie as one of the best horror movies ever. I give it 4 STARS.....

As the Nazi war machine caused death and destruction throughout Europe, one man in the Fatherland began his own reign of terror. This is the true story of the pursuit and capture of a serial killer in the heart of the Third Reich. For all appearances, Paul Ogorzow was a model German. An employed family man, party member, and sergeant in the infamous Brownshirts, he had worked his way up in the Berlin railroad from a manual laborer laying track to assistant signalman. But he also had a secret need to harass and frighten women.

PLOT: serial killer rapes and kills in World War 2 Berlin~

Berlin....and Germany is the heart of World War 2. Nazi Germany's capital city is in blackness due to bombing of Belin and a serial killer is using the darkness to KILL and rape women. People in apartments can have gardens on the edge of Berlin for food. A serial killer uses this to advantage. He takes to the "garden" areas at night and soon is molesting and killing woman. He gets a sexual high from the thrills of the sex and violence. He then progressing to the rail way and soon is tossing women off trains where also gets yes more sexual thrills. As his violence and kills add up the Berlin police finally get clues to who he could be. The Nazi Propaganda keeps the "killings" secret from the public to avoid discrediting the Nazi regime. but eventually the police use posters and word of mouth help develop a "early" profile of the likely killer. This is a good book some interesting thoughts into both the "early mindset" of a killer and the arrogant and secretive Nazis. Eventually the killer slips up but his cunning slips up his confessions leading to even more speculation of his crimes. Worth listing too once. Before DNA testing and criminal profiling the Berlin police use plain old leg work and logic to capture a killer.

PLOT: Hunting Nazi Raushman is his new goal.

1963~ a freelance journalist stumbles on to a journal of a Jew who committed suicide. The story it tells is first rate. The journal beings in Rega Concentration camp where sadist Raushman the Nazi in charge both kills, tortures and "enjoys" the murder of all his victims. When the Journal informed Miller (the Journalist) that Raushman is still alive and living in Germany the hunt is on. This is both interesting how the "good old boy" Nazi network helped each other out. With some going to South America and some simply with new identities they chose new lives right under the nose of the Nazi Hunters. They often protected each other. But the ODESSA is the "organization" who helps FUND and arrange the escapes and new lives. AS Miller discovers the "forger" who helped with the new identity papers. He has the proof he needs for justice but the Odessa is hot on his trail to stop him at any cost. This is an excellent story. It has the details and keeps you interested. But there is a plot twist that is great that gives a personal reason for Miller to find the Nazi Rauschman. I give it 4 STARS....

PLOT: early 1960s plot to kill DE Gaulle.

After several "failed" plots to kill French President Charles De Gaulle...the OAS hire an unknown killer with the name of the "Jackal"......This is entertaining and is different than the movie plot. "Jackal" is skillful and knows every person in every country who can aid his plans for killing....from the gunsmith who can build him a special "gun" ....and he travels to Italy to get several new forged identity papers. AS he carefully plots his skills he is soon pursued by French Detective Lebel who soon has some clues to the hired killer from clues from a kidnapped OAS man. A blonde Englishman is soon being hunted in the UK and abroad. With clues to his "Alexander Duggan".Id........but the Jackal is already on to ID #2...and headed to France from Italy. this is fun and interesting complete with a sexy spy who come mistress of an old man close to De Gaulle to keep tabs on him. This is first rate and keeps you absorbed to the intrigue and very plausible crime. his excellent methods of truly getting close enough to kill is first rate........ I give this 5 STARS all for the way for excellent plot, reader and story that is entertaining even 50 years later.
