I loved this book - it was a bit slow at the start, but it picked up and i found myself listening to it even when I wasn't in the car (my usually listening spot). The reader is fabulous, and I'm only sorry I don't have the hard copy so I can check out all the places in it when we go to Istanbul.
We listen to lots of books on tape as we drive up and down the east coast, and this is the best story we have heard. The reader does an amazing job with all the accents, and the plot is fabulous. We can't wait for the sequel!
This is a terrific book, and the author does a wonderful job reading it. I was so sorry when it ended, but am happy to know I can read the author's columns in the NYT and see her, occasionally on the News Hour.
My husband and I agreed that this was a lousy book. We generally like the author, but were really disappointed in this.
This is a really interesting story and well read. I think most people will learn a lot about what it was like to live under Sadam's thumb..
I found this engaging enough to distract me during a long car trip, but not really great.
