A little bit more morbid than I was lead to believe, the son is way too obssessed with his fears instead of just enjoying the time he has with his mother. Having said that it is a great book, well written and well read. And best of all I have a great list of books I want to read from it.
The household guide to dying, only it was about Mother and Daughters, but still an excellent read and a little more light hearted and fun.
You really believe he is talking about his own mother, an excellent performance.
I was excited to hear about so many wonderful new book to discover and I enjoyed hearing their differing views about the books they read.
Easy listen and worth the time.
Ever read a book and at the end don't know whether you enjoyed it or not. This book hooked me from the very start and while it was definitely different and I thoroughly enjoyed the change. Not for everyone, I would listen to the sample and read other reviews as I like strange and different. It also helped me understand the world of Asperger's affected people which is a real bonus.
While I love Nora Roberts and the magical theme I feel that this storyline is just the same as all the others. The Three Sisters Trilogy was the best and it is hard to improve on the best. I think Nora needs to dig deeper and use more imagination. While the story is well written and well read it is very predictable. Its definitely time for a change.
Although the story begins a little sad and desperate for poor Ceecee, the future looks bright and her dreams will be realised. I love southern women and their hospitality, plus their warm, generous hearts. I true delight to read and listen too.
Neil Gaiman's stories are always good and I enjoyed The Ocean at the End of the Lane, and felt connected to the characters but have enjoy other books of his more. I felt the story was missing something. I did enjoy listening to it, especially as Neil Gaiman narrated it and it was well worth the time and money it just wasn't his best.
This is a funny, light-hearted tale with wonderful characters and a great story. It has its sad moments and its heart warming ones as well. I didn't want it to end. I purchased this book for my daughter and everyday we looked forward to reading a new chapter. As soon as it was available on audiobook I just had to own it and the narrator did a wonderful job. This is a story for all ages and leaves you with a smile on your face and a new respect for Charles Dickens.
In this wonderful tale your emotions will by tested to their full range. Funny, sad, insightful and best of all honest. The narrator takes you on the journey with Harold and you feel evrything he is going through with empathy and love for the man. I had a crazy week but found time everyday to find out what Harold was up to and it made my week bearable.
Thank you Racheal, Jim and Harold you enriched my life with your story.
I enjoyed the series but felt it lost something as it progressed instead of growing with each book. The first one was good, I loved the concept and the B & B, it really hooked me but the next 2 not so much. I enjoy Nora Roberts stories but will always compare each new series to my favourite, The Three Sisters Trilogy, and nothing has come close in my opinion. This story is a little slow and a bit boring in places but the narration helped to make it more interesting.
I read this book because it was recommended to me and I loved it. It is a thinking persons book not for those looking for an escape from reality. Smart, funny and very sad. Characters you become invested in as you follow their journey. Have purchased 3 copies and sent to friends for christmas presents.
The voice the author gave to Enzo was so believable and endearing, I fell in love with this dog from the first page. Denny's devotion and love for his friend is also heart warming especially for a dog owner like myself as I have felt this attachment.
It is the first book I have ever read which was written from a dog's perspective. Would be hard to follow I think.
The author is very clever and has approached the story in a unique way speaking from Enzo's perspective of events unfolding around him. Fresh idea, done well.
No negative comments at all. Performance was superb.
Very sad at times but that is life.
