Churchill's history of the Second World War is, and will remain, the definitive work. Lucid, dramatic, remarkable for its breadth and sweep and for its sense of personal involvement, it is universally acknowledged as a magnificent reconstruction.

John M says: "Brilliant! Only Churchill could have done this."
    "Too Much Inside British Politics"
    Overall

Churchill writes too much about English politics and too little about the bigger picture of world developments. It was the lens through which he viewed history, but he's unable to give you the bigger picture. He also doesn't reveal much about himself. If you're an English politics / history wonk, you might enjoy this book. However, if you're looking to understand WW II or to get to know Churchill, look elsewhere.
