It is a humorous look at Adam's strange life. I'd never heard of him before since I'm not a radio listener and not under age 30. He seems to be pretty successful for having such a weird life. And he's kept lots of his old friends, which is surprising considering the stunts they pulled together. Lots of F bomb and scatological material in here.

When he talked about how he rates life on how high the mattress is off the floor. His lowlife mom had hers on the floor. At the time I was moving from one rental to another (I own two nice homes with high mattresses, but am living in a temporary rental and my mattress was on the floor. He nailed it dead on!

The Blossom St. books are a collection of stories of lives that mirror our own but in rosier and often more moral ways. The characters go through rough times but good triumphs in the end. I hope these books make me stop and smell the flowers, knit a scarf and enjoy a cup of tea with a friend when life all too often would have me honk at the slow poke driving ahead of me, or the person with a full cart in the 20 items or less checkout lane. Hopefully I will be a better person for listening to these fanciful tales.

The thought of knitting again.

I'm in the car 10 hours a week so this is the4 only way I could enjoy the book.

No, because if I changed it to my tastes it would not represent Africa and the African people. To change the characters to my way of thinking would be to dimish them and make them into Americans. These characters have a charm and beauty that is truly African.

This book picks up with the same characters as in the first book. Not much happened in that book and though some children were added to the cast of characters not much really happens.

I like these books for their simple sing-song wording and the description of African life as seen through African eyes, not how an American sees African life. These people are very content with what they have and proud of their country. It's hard for an American listener to believe they are content with life, when by American standards they are so poor. But the characters don't have a lusting for material goods. It's more about people and relationships. The love of the land and their heritage are important to these characters.

No, but I like off beat, quirky books. I'm not much into Hollywood style blockbuster movies and I don't watch much commercial TV. I care more about these characters than the whole Kardashian family.

Only on BBC TV. Too slow paced for American TV and with no blood, violence , sex or even much mystery for that matter,it wouldn't be very popular here. PBS might run it and I would certainly watch.

A great series of books that are best listened to one after another. If you plan on listening to the series get them all at once. Don't listen to a lot of books in between or the characters will become confusing since thir name are hard to understand.

The #1 Ladies Detective Agency series is pretty uneventful with not much sluthing or who-done it. The books are a slice of life from a part of the world that is very different from white-bread America. The characters are moderately engaging but there's not much plot line. The narator is supurb and it's interesting to hear how the names are pronounced. I've listened to about a half dozen of this series and I enjoy them for what they are and don't expect real mysteries or detective work.

They are all about the same. The characters are all about the same. The detection work is all about the same. 'Nuff said!

The books are worth listening to if for no other reason that we live in a big diverse world. Learning about how other peoples and cultures thrive in this less than perfect world is enjoyable to me. I'm halfway through all 13 books and look forward to hearing the rest of the series.
