    It has been years since I read any Heinlein. I must say that "Starnger in a Strange Land" deserves its position as one of the SF greats. The story has aged extremely well and is just as relevant today as it ever was. It is a great story which challenges social convention, accepted norms and humanities place in the scheme of things.

    Highly recommended this book.

    I did enjoy this story but it is a little slow. Another thing that I found tiresome by the end was the incredible sexism. I hadn't read any Heinlein books since I was a teen and I was surprised by his paternalistic sexist attitudes. Constantly attributing a connection between sex and emotions as unenlightened and childish was tedious. Likewise his treatment of the main character.

    However I know some people will simply point out that the book was written 25 years ago by a person who grew up in a different era (whatever!).

    Anyway Robert Heinlein is a good writer for all that. Worth a read / listen.

    I bought this audiobook because it got great reviews by others. Having listened to it now I am very impressed. The writing is exceptional and the Author does a fantastic job as reader. This is a great work of fiction and I highly recommend it.

    I originally wrote a review for this book when I was only half way through it. Well... lets just say that was a mistake. The first story in this collection is disgusting.. but it is by far the "worst" in the book. My advice is to stick with it.

    I found myself fascinated and wanting to know the stories of all the characters. In some ways it was like watching episodes of Lost, when you finally get a flashback sotry for someone new.

    I strongly recommend this book (once you get past the first story)

    Now I have finally read (listened to) this book its impact on sooo many other stories and ideas can not be denied. This is a cornerstone piece of fiction in my mind.

    By today's standards the story itself has probably lost some of its impact (purely because we expect more horror in our thrills) but this story delivers a great idea combined with valuable life lessons.
