"Great insight and tips - poor audio quality"
    Overall

The insights and social media tips were great and on target - useful reminders even for pros.
However it was a recorded phone interview so the audio quality is poor.

  • This Time Is Different: Eight Centuries of Financial Folly

    Story

Throughout history, rich and poor countries alike have been lending, borrowing, crashing - and recovering -their way through an extraordinary range of financial crises. Each time, the experts have chimed, "this time is different" - claiming that the old rules of valuation no longer apply and that the new situation bears little similarity to past disasters. This book proves that premise wrong.

    D. Littman says: "necessary piece to understand the current crisis"
"Interesting - but a little dry."
    Overall

Although the information was interesting, it reads like text book.
I almost gave up a few times because it was too dry.

    Story

Jonah Lehrer arms us with the tools we need to figure out how we decide, drawing on cutting-edge research by Daniel Kahneman, Colin Camerer, and others, as well as the real-world experiences of a wide range of "deciders" - from airplane pilots and hedge fund investors to serial killers and poker players. Lehrer shows how people are taking advantage of the new science to make better television shows, win more football games, and improve military intelligence.

Sarah says: "Summarizes information from several superior books"
    "Excellent - very insightful"
    Overall

Very thorough and very insightful. Includes practical applications and how to make better decisions.

  • Persuasion IQ: The 10 Skills You Need to Get Exactly What You Want

Research done at Kurt Mortensen's Persuasion Institute proves that persuasion is as much a science as an art - though top persuaders universally possess certain skills that make them seem as though they have a natural ability to persuade. In as little time as it takes you to listen to Persuasion IQ you can transform yourself into a true master of the art and science of persuasion.

    Dave says: "Persuasion?"
    "Painful to listen to."
    Overall

This audio book is painful to listen to. The narration is professional, but there is no life to it and the writing is dry like the desert.

There may be some excellent ideas here, but its too dry to get through.

Wondering how to make use of all that spare time on the plane while you're flying to Cairo, Riyadh, or Beirut? Between your in-flight meal and your in-flight movie, try some In-Flight Arabic! This 60-minute program is the simplest way to learn just enough Arabic to get through anything you'll run into, whether you're traveling for business or for pleasure.

Sojournalist says: "Too Little, Too Much, Too Bad."
    "Avoid this"
    Overall

This was a really bad language tape. Tapes by Robert Blair for example are very easy to use and help you learn a language fast.

On this tape, they say the English word, then they say the Arabic word - ONCE - and then a quiet moment for you to repeat the word. The whole audio file works that way. If you want to really learn, you need to constantly rewind to hear the correct pronunciation.
